17:00 – H Key Lails
This looks highly competitive but the vote goes to H KEY LAILS, who has form figures of 322231 since returned to AW in August and was as good as ever with his dominant display at Lingfield last time. Fools Rush In and Port Erin are feared most in that order, although Berkshire Phantom was an eyecatcher here last month and has possibilities if he gets some luck back in trip. Recent Newcastle winner Showhound also enters the reckoning along with Zu Run.
17:30 – Starfighter
An open race in which the vote goes to STARFIGHTER, who justified favouritism off a reduced mark over C&D last time and is only 2lb higher than for that success. Virtual Hug was a close second behind the selection two weeks ago and he’s feared most ahead of Mhajim, who was an eyecatcher at Lingfield last Monday. Walk The Moon ran well after wind surgery here last time and has possibilities if he can back that up, while another to consider is Hawa Jumeirah.
18:00 – Tyke
Top of the list is TYKE, who was only just caught over C&D last Monday and has strong claims if he can repeat that form off the same mark. The main threat could come from five-time AW winner Gogo Yubari, who has run well over 5f in her last two starts and looks interesting on this step back up in trip. Third choice is Em Jay Kay, who won over C&D in November and was a creditable third back here two weeks ago.
18:30 – Chartwell Jock
Preference is for CHARTWELL JOCK, who sets the standard on his second at Lingfield 17 days ago and is open to more progress on this switch to Tapeta. Recent Newcastle third Without Compromise is feared most, although Crackalackin was an eyecatching fourth here last time and could be dangerous on his step up in trip. Universal Story could go well on her drop back to 9.4f, while another to keep an eye on is the newcomer Flute D’Or.
19:00 – Marinakis
Kitaro Kich had a near miss at Chelmsford last month and he’s respected along with Al Baahy, who was runner-up over C&D last time. Course specialist Pessoa has possibilities off a dangerous mark, while Port Noir and Carey Street also enter the reckoning. However, the vote goes to MARINAKIS, who has really got his act together over 1m recently and was a clear second in his bid for a double at Southwell last week.
19:30 – Aneedah Hero
Manton Road has obvious claims as he was first past the post last week at Lingfield off this very mark, but preference is for ANEEDAH HERO who was also a beaten favourite on the same card. He was eyecatchingly strong in the market and didn’t appear to cope too well with the track. Paulie Two Lockers is preferred of the others.
20:00 – Kaleidoscope Eyes
A fillies’ handicap in all but name. A few of these are making their handicap debuts so could improve, with Jester Queen and Diligent Madam perhaps the most interesting. However, despite being the most exposed in the field KALEIDOSCOPE EYES also has the best form and is taken to make it 11th-time lucky. Born Too Run has one piece of form that would give her a chance if she can rediscover it.
20:30 – Desert Master (NAP)
The one who appeals most is DESERT MASTER (nap), who has scored under Alex Jary in two of his last three runs and escapes a penalty for his front-running win at Southwell last week. Four-time C&D winner Next Second turned things around with a close call here last Monday and could pose a big threat if she can repeat that form. Saturday’s C&D runner-up Hastily also enters the reckoning, while others who could be dangerous are State Of Madness and Sir Benedict.
