12:10 – Jingko Blue
His tendency to race too freely is a slight concern before his first attempt at 3m, but unexposed 6yo JINGKO BLUE impressed on last month’s chasing debut and could be very smart. Lowry’s Bar is making good progress and if today’s step up in trip suits, he probably won’t go down without a fight.
12:45 – Jubilee Alpha
Khrisma showed plenty of promise in bumpers in France in autumn 2023 and is a tempting option on her first start for Nicky Henderson, especially as she is receiving weight from the previous hurdle winners.
However, she hasn’t been seen for 421 days and preference is for JUBILEE ALPHA, who looked very good when comfortably winning a Listed race at Taunton three weeks ago. Khrisma is second choice ahead of Wincanton winner Bluey.
13:20 – Onewaywest
Most of these novice handicappers still have potential and top of the list is ONEWAYWEST, who did not have the race run to suit his patient tactics but still ran on well for second over C&D last month.
Guard Duty (second choice) is another free-goer who can pose a threat from off the pace, while Fasol has pretty solid claims and Reallyntruthfully ought to progress from his Warwick win.
13:55 – Arctic Bresil
Topweight Matata has been in excellent form this season, but the presence of Editeur Du Gite and Sans Bruit (who combined to set an overly strong pace at Kempton last month) could make things difficult for this front-runner.
A chance is taken on ARCTIC BRESIL, for whom a return to form is needed, but he’s travelled from Ireland and could be on a good mark judged on his performance in the 2m4f Plate at the Cheltenham Festival last March when he failed to last home up the hill.
The competitive gallop is a plus for Crebilly on his drop back in trip and he is second choice.
14:30 – Dans Le Vent
A fair few of these need to prove their stamina, but that certainly isn’t the case with the 12yo DANS LE VENT, who was a close third at Chepstow last time and earns the vote. Titan Discovery was progressive at up to 2m5f last season and is feared most, having hinted he could be suited by a staying trip.
Gwennie May Boy is next on the list after his promising third at Carlisle. Jipcot bolted up at Newbury and can play another leading role if staying this new trip, while Minella Missile and Git Maker could be on good marks if at the top of their respective games after some time off.
15:05 – Djelo (NAP)
This can go to the progressive 7yo DJELO (nap), who was extremely impressive in the Grade 2 Peterborough Chase at Huntingdon last month. Ahoy Senor (second choice) has a big chance in receipt of 8lb from his main form rivals if he’s back on song. Irish raider Journey With Me is another interesting contender.
15:40 – Fortunate Man
A few of these are unexposed over marathon trips and the most appealing in that group is progressive 6yo FORTUNATE MAN, who came good over fences with a 3m1f win at Aintree last month.
Regatta De Blanc (second choice) and Zertakt also look very interesting, while Art Decco, Animal and Not Sure are three established sloggers with possibilities.
16:10 – Sinnatra
Having powered clear to win on his debut at Chepstow in November, SINNATRA is taken to make it 2-2. This is a very hot contest, though, and One Knight (second choice) and El Cairos were also impressive winners last time.
Old rivals Idaho Sun and Supreme Malinas are others to consider, while A Boy The Kid is an intriguing newcomer for Charles Byrnes.
