A few of these look promising, perhaps none more so than SCALPNAGOON, who was behind a nice prospect at Down Royal last month and he pulled nicely clear of the remainder. Romany Brown looks like the main threat, particularly if he gets an easy lead.
12:55 – Inn At The Park
With race-fitness assured, last month’s Fairyhouse maiden winner INN AT THE PARK should have improved from that and Townend prefers him to stablemate Mister Pink. Sporting Glory is taking a major step up in trip, but he has to be respected.
13:30 – Only By Night
Though this trip is a question for ONLY BY NIGHT, she has been very impressive in both her chase starts over 2m and is difficult to oppose. Nara was a well-held runner-up to her at Cork last time but can give her a race on better terms, while Spindleberry and Judicieuse Allen can also provide meaningful opposition.
14:05 – Blood Destiny
Paul Townend gets on board BLOOD DESTINY, who ended last season on a low note, but he did manage to land a Grade 3 earlier in the campaign, and he’s entirely unexposed, unlike most of his rivals.
Fil Dor has been in reasonable form and should be in the mix and French Dynamite, in the same ownership, has an each-way chance back on home soil.
14:35 – That’s About Right (NAP)
This can go the way of THAT’S ABOUT RIGHT (nap), who has made a bright start to life over fences at this venue and is less exposed than most in here. The Echo Boy is back down to a workable mark and Potters Party isn’t ruled out if he handles conditions.
15:10 – Indiana Jones
This can go the way of INDIANA JONES, who is down to a dangerous mark and hinted a return to form was imminent at Leopardstown when last seen. Stuntman Steve is interesting switched to handicap company and Jazzy Matty could be a threat from his lower hurdle mark back in this sphere.
15:45 – Willitgoahead
Having been prolific in points last year, WILLITGOAHEAD might be worth chancing after a narrow defeat at Limerick three weeks ago and this longer trip won’t be an issue.
He gets weight from Boss Robin, who looks like the main danger after a narrow defeat in a point last month. Ask D’man is also a threat for last year’s winning connections.
