12:30 – Mersey Street
Mersey Street was pulled up at Fontwell on his penultimate start but he bounced back to form when a close-up fourth at Wetherby last month on his first attempt at three miles, not quite seeing the trip out as well as the first three under a positive ride. This slightly sharper test may be in his favour and he looks likely to give a good account after edging up only 1 lb.
13:05 – Kalif Dairy
Kalif d’Airy made no impact on his first couple of starts in handicaps but he proved a lot more competitive at Fontwell last time when finding only a last-time winner too strong. Kalif d’Airy was unable to reward strong support, but he travelled fluently and pulled a long way clear of the remainder. The winner has since completed the hat-trick with plenty in hand, so the unexposed Kalif d’Airy looks well handicapped after edging up only 3 lb.
13:40 – Jukebox Deddy
Jukebox d’Eddy has yet to match his hurdles form over fences, but he has offered some encouragement from his tumbling chase mark the last twice. He travelled well for much of the way when fourth at Stratford on his penultimate start and ran creditably when third at Market Rasen last time. He is fitted with cheekpieces here in a bid to bring about some improvement and he will also have the assistance of Sean Bowen in the saddle for the first time, so he is worth siding with from this lowly mark.
14:15 – Aviation
Aviation shaped with some promise when third at Warwick on his hurdling debut in November and he again offered something to work with when finding only one too strong back at that venue last month. Aviation proved suited by the step up in trip to around two and a half miles last time, staying on well, and he remains open to further improvement. He can put that experience to good use.
14:45 – Star Walking
Star Walking, a winner here on her only start in bumpers, was a beaten favourite on her hurdling debut at Uttoxeter but she offered plenty to work with, impressing with her strength in the finish. Star Walking confirmed that promise up in trip at Wincanton last time, staying on to lead near the finish, and she remains with more to offer after only a couple of starts over hurdles. She is taken to raise her game and make a successful start in handicap company.
15:20 – Ostrava Du Berlais
Ostrava du Berlais was disappointing when bidding to complete a hat-trick at Ffos Las last week but it’s possible that she failed to cope with the extremely testing conditions. She had previously created a good impression when easily winning weaker handicaps at Ludlow and Taunton and looks worth another chance off what still appears a fair handicap mark.
15:55 – Edward Sexton
Edward Sexton is out of an unbeaten dual bumper winner and he made a promising start to his career when runner-up at Sandown in November. Edward Sexton, who travelled well, was edged out only by a stablemate with pointing experience and the form he showed there sets a good standard for the others to aim at. He’s also entitled to build on that encouraging effort and is the one to beat.
