Stone’s Throw has made a pretty good start to his hurdling career and can win soon but another chance is readily given to NOAHSGREATRAINBOW, who looked promising in bumpers last season and can be excused his disappointing hurdle debut. Winning pointer Just A Rose looks interesting on her rules debut, while a wind op may prompt some improvement from her stablemate Roman Roy.
13:30 – Jena Doudairies
I’ve Madeupmymind (second choice), Northern Air and Future Fortune are probably capable of better and Zarhanya has races in her, but JENA D’OUDAIRIES has the most compelling form credentials and perhaps the least to prove.
14:05 – Jesuila Des Mottes
It’s not too late for some of these to emerge from the shadows but, as things stand, hardly any of them have a remotely solid claim. That points to Honey Jack holding a big chance to double up following his C&D handicap win last time out, but topweight JESUILA DES MOTTES proved she has significant ability on her final qualifying race and that performance suggested that this trip can help. Badbury Rings was third in his C&D handicap, while Glengolly attracted some interest last time. Kick For Touch is a handicap newcomer from a major yard.
14:40 – Yggdrasil
The most interesting one is arguably YGGDRASIL, who drops back in trip after travelling strongly for a long way over 2m4f at Wincanton last month. That was his first start since June 2023 and he has become very well handicapped. First Angel (second choice) has a similar profile, having also shaped well when returning from a layoff last month, while Davidoc is a contender if able to bounce back from his disappointing run in November.
15:15 – Stream Of Stars
All of these seniors have something going for them. The suggestion is STREAM OF STARS, who seemed to find the heavy ground too taxing when behind Zambezi Fix last month and could still be on a good mark if judged on his two Fontwell wins this season. Might I didn’t get home after making a bold bid from the front over 3m last month but won over this trip two starts ago and is feared most. Dominic’s Fault moves up in grade today but might still be improving.
15:50 – The Cox Express
Safe Destination is in good form and has solid claims but THE COX EXPRESS was nudged up only 2lb for his creditable second in a big field on last month’s chase debut and, with good 7lb claimer Callum Pritchard enlisted, he gets the vote in the hope this new trip suits. Chase debutant Whynotnowroy is next on the list.
16:20 – A Little Something (NAP)
Unexposed mare A LITTLE SOMETHING (nap) seemed to find things happening just a bit too quickly when keeping on for third over 2m on her handicap debut but she has stamina in her pedigree and can open her account over this longer trip. State Of Fame has not been with Tom Lacey for long and, with Cameron Iles claiming 7lb, he is earmarked as the biggest danger. Good cases can also be made for Ugo Bingo and Star Of Affinity.
