13:55 Windsor – Harpers Brook
This is a 2m race and this could be survival of the fittest because there’s going to be a lot of pace on in here. Etalon needs to jump a bit better, that’s been the key with him. I’m not sure he’d be a worthy favourite and Harpers Brook seems to have found his mojo a little bit of late. I’m going to take a bit of a punt on a surprise.
14:05 Thurles – Blood Destiny
This is a good little race but the ground could have a big say in this contest because a horse like Appreciate It is really interesting back on something a bit better. I’m not worried about him coming back after a long layoff but Paul Townend has chosen Blood Destiny and he would have a fair old say in what goes on so I’ll side with Paul’s call.
14:30 Windsor – Deep Cave (each-way)
This is a handicap hurdle and Jipcot is going to take a bit of beating here. This looks like a race that will play to the strengths of a horse like him. Deep Cave could be interesting at a big price, he ran okay at Cheltenham last time and a flatter track would suit him better. I just feel that the favourite Jipcot is worthy and he’s probably the most likely winner but I can’t help but be drawn to Deep Cave as an each-way selection.
14:45 Fakenham – Pretending
There’s two races from Fakenham on ITV Racing on Sunday and the first is a mare’s handicap hurdle. I think it’s important to try and pick some horses that will cope with the conditions and Pretending has dropped down to a mark that she can be really competitive off. She likes to get on with it and the ground drying out won’t be a problem for her. I think she’s a little bit of value.
15:05 Windsor – Protektorat
The Fleur De Lys Chase is tailor made for Protektorat. He was beat last time against Djelo at Huntingdon but his form going right handed is poor and I’m blaming that. This race is set up perfectly for Protektorat to turn the tables.
15:20 Fakenham – Gazette Bourgeoise
This is another mare’s race, this time over fences, and Gazette Bourgeoise has benefited from a wind operation which was borne out by a good win at this track last time. She’s got a fair old pull in the weights on Telepathique and that should swing it in our favour.
15:40 Windsor – Zertakt
The last race on ITV on Sunday is a stayers’ handicap chase. Zertakt went into my notebook the last day where he stepped up in trip. Even then he looked like he needed another step up in trip again. That’s interesting and he’s still relatively-well handicapped so it’s Zertakt for Venetia Williams in our final race of the day.
