12:30 – Luker’s Tipple
Luker’s Tipple was no match for the exciting Sainte Lucie on his hurdling debut at Punchestown on New Year’s Eve but he proved best of the rest and was well clear of the third. That was an encouraging start over hurdles from Luker’s Tipple and it marks him out as the one to beat here, particularly with further improvement expected. Point winner Pure Steel showed something to work with when fourth in a good-quality maiden here last month and he’s entitled to improve for that experience.
13:05 – Wardens Whisper
Wardens Whisper was beaten half a length by Liberated Light at Limerick last month but is worth siding with to reverse the form. Consistency isn’t a strong suit for Liberated Light whereas Wardens Whisper is going the right way and has been placed on his last three starts. He still has relatively few miles on the clock so could yet do a bit better.
13:40 – Autoportrait
Autoportait was placed on his second start in France and he has also shown ability on both outings since joining Mouse Morris, finishing placed at Navan and Limerick. Autoportrait was well clear of the third when behind a useful recruit from the Flat and a dual bumper winner in a good maiden at Limerick last month and he looks to have been found a nice opportunity here. The Story So Far ran well when runner-up in a handicap at Limerick last month and he can again fill the forecast spot.
14:15 – Cast A Spell
Cast A Spell ran up to her best when third behind Aurora Vega in a conditions hurdle at Fairyhouse on New Year’s Day and she holds solid claims back in handicap company. She has run well on her three previous starts at this venue, finishing runner-up in a couple of mares’ maidens and third in a listed novice. She gets the vote over Slim Marvel who shaped as if still in good form when fifth under an attacking ride in a big-field handicap at Fairyhouse on New Year’s Day.
14:50 – Mighty Oak Lad
Mighty Oak Lad never figured on his reappearance at Clonmel last month but he produced a much more encouraging effort when third in handicap company at Navan 12 days later, keeping on well despite not being given a hard time once it was clear he wasn’t getting to the front two. That was only his third start over fences so he could yet do a bit better in this sphere, and he makes appeal back in beginners’ company. John The Diva jumped well in the main when third on his chasing debut at Tramore in November and he is respected on the back of that encouraging effort.
15:25 – Global Export
Global Export stepped up on his previous efforts over fences when successful at Down Royal last month and he deserves extra credit as he had to overcome trouble in running. The pick of his hurdles form suggests he moves into handicap chases on a fair mark and he represents a trainer in Gavin Cromwell who has had plenty of winners of late.
16:00 – Lau And Shaz
Lau And Shaz was placed in bumpers at Punchestown and Naas and she offered encouragement when fifth behind some promising rivals on her hurdling debut at Naas last month. She is back in bumper company here and looks likely to give a good account. Willie Mullins’ representatives in this sphere are always entitled to plenty of respect so Adela Icon is interesting on her first start for the yard and first start since finishing runner-up in a Sligo bumper in August 2023.
