The Clarence House Chase looks set to be a humdinger as Jonbon tackles Energumene at Ascot on Saturday.
As well as being one of the season’s leading races for minimum-distance horses, it will serve as a teaser for the Champion Chase as the pair are among the leading contenders for the Cheltenham Festival feature.
Boothill and Edwardstone complete the small-but-select field for the Grade 1 but the pair have been booted out the way by Jonbon on numerous occasions.
Clarence House Chase odds can be found on the Paddy Power website and Paddy Power app, otherwise key historical trends from the last 10 renewals and a tip based off the big-race stats are below.
Clarence House Chase 2025 trends
All four horses meet a stack of 10/10 trends including a rating in excess of 156, four or more chase wins and a previous victory at Grade 2 level or higher so we need to dig a little deeper to start removing contenders from the shortlist.
AGE
- 10/10 were aged between seven and 10
Edwardstone and Energumene are aiming to become the first 11-year-olds to win the Clarence House Chase since the race was turned into a conditions event in 2007.
LAST TIME OUT
- 10/10 had their most recent run within the previous 23 to 56 days
Boothill, the lowest rated of the quartet on a mark of 160, can also be scrubbed from calculations as his last outing came just 22 days ago.
Clarence House Chase 2025 trends verdict
It is hardly an original pick but JONBON, the youngest in the field at the age of nine, ticks all the boxes and emerges as the trends pick.
