13:25 Market Rasen – Nocte Volatus
A Veterans Chaser race where the five-time winner NOCTE VOLATUS ran very well to chase home Gemirande and was a winner at Chepstow before that. He ticks a lot of boxes.
13:50 Windsor – Caldwell Potter
Gidleigh Park is very smart, but I’d worry about backing one who was reported to have an irregular heartbeat last time.
I’d sooner watch him this time especially as he’s dropping down in trip. That swings me more in favour of CALDWELL POTTER, who is also dropping back in trip after his defeat last time, but this contest looks a better fit for him.
14:25 Windsor – Party Vibes
PARTY VIBES looks like the safest option as she looks like an improver in the field. She’s solid, will handle conditions and is on the up.
La Eile is an interesting Irish challenger from Gavin Cromwell’s yard. A reproduction of her second-place finish to Marsh Wren would be good enough to win this. She’s looked a little laboured this season so that just sways me to favour Party Vibes. It was a tough call, though.
14:35 Market Rasen – Copperhead
Joe Tizzard’s has Eldorado Allen and COPPERHEAD in the rearranged Veterans Handicap Chase, and it’s the latter that stands out for me.
Freddie Gingell takes a further 3lb off his back so he’ll carry 10st 5lbs, and that’s a big plus. He’s the one to be on.
15:00 Windsor – Nemean Lion
NEMEAN LION looks to have been overlooked in the market to me. He showed his well-being last time when winning off a mark of 148.
How many of this field could win a handicap that easily with that rating? That narrows it down for me, so he gets the nod.
15:10 Market Rasen – Dream Shadow
A Mares’ Bumper with Listed status over an extended 2m and DREAM SHADOW sets the standard.
She flew home at Uttoxeter to finish third first time up on seasonal debut and then made no mistake at the same venue next time. The only question mark against her is that she hasn’t run for a while. Ben Pauling’s debutant Elusive Feeling should be noted if the market speaks in her favour.
15:35 Windsor – Kabral Du Mathan & Brentford Hope (each-way)
The 2m Handicap Hurdle is the most competitive race on the card, but KABRAL DU MATHAN was very unlucky at Ascot and can make amends now. He went up 8lbs for finishing second that day but still looks like one to keep on the right side of.
The race should set up perfectly for BRENTFORD HOPE who travels strongly in his races and looks like an each-way play at the prices.
