16:15 – Mehman (NAP)
Mint Man won last time out at Dundalk when finishing ahead of the reopposing Crystal Luna. Tactics will be key in this small field. There are three or four potential pace angles and that could set the race up for a closer . I like Mehman. He was beaten on the line last time out in December and his recent form is better than Inishmot Prince’s. He’s consistent and he’s the one to be with.
16:45 – Jabbar
It feels like Falcon Eight and Effernock Fizz have been around forever. Prairie Dancer has only had one run on the all-weather track but he’s got to give weight away to Jabbar. He’s been a revelation for Gerard O’Leary and he’s had a couple of brilliant runs in the last few months. He’ll be suited by the switch to the polytrack and Keithen Kennedy is taking off 5lbs too.
17:15 – Portarlington
Scott Lang could be worth keeping an eye on if his second at Leopardstown in December didn’t take too much out of him but I’m with Portarlington. He’s got a really interesting profile and he’s had a number of wins since switching yards to Ian Donoghue. He’s improved for the change and there could be a lot more to come from him off a mark of 49. He could be a handicap ‘blot’ and very hard to beat.
17:45 – Final Voyage
San Andreas is back down to 7f and while he’s in good form, he’s gone up 7lbs in the weights so I’m on Final Voyage for Johnny Murtagh. He’s got 3l to make up on San Andreas from the last time they met but that was over further. Final Voyage wasn’t as impressive over the longer trip but this 7f distance will be perfect. He ran well at Dundalk in December and he might be at his peak to win this.
18:15 – I’m Spartacus
Free Solo will be popular in the market but I’m Spartacus is really interesting stepping up to 7f now. He’s been consistent all winter and there should be a strong gallop which will suit him. He can go along at the front end and he’s got more upside than the rest of these.
18:45 – Migdam
Migdam has had an interrupted career and it’s interesting he’s dropping down to a mile. Nicola Burns rides and takes off 7lbs for trainer Adrian McGuinness. He’s dropped 3lbs in the ratings for finishing sixth at Dundalk in December and he should be at his peak on Friday night. He makes a lot of appeal.
19:15 – Imperial Miss
I’ve probably lost more on Imperial Miss than what she’s worth! She impressed over course and distance last time out in December and the cheekpieces are back on. She’s well capable and her second-place finish a couple of runs ago was also impressive.
