13:15 Ffos Las – Saint Davy

ITV Racing returns on Saturday with action from Ffos Las (if passes morning inspection), Fairyhouse, and all-weather action at Newcastle and Chelmsford. We start at Ffos Las with the Grade 2 Towton Novices’ Chase over an extended 2m3f.  Getting 5lb from Handstands. it’s not impossible SAINT DAVY can reverse recent Sandown form with his old rival. My selection is lightly raced, and open to improvement, even though he’s aged eight. He goes for the Jonjo O’Neill team and the Sandown effort was a fine one as he’d been off the track since March 2024. After just seven outings there could be a lot more to come and this will feel like a test – which is what he enjoys.

Saint Davy Win or Each Way

13:45 Fairyhouse – The King Of Prs (each-way)

A Grade 3 Handicap Chase over 2m1f. This is wide open. THE KING OF PRS should give us a run for our money after two good placed efforts this term. He’s one of many Gavin Cromwell-trained runners in the field, but is helped by Conor Stone-Walsh taking off a useful 5lb. I don’t think he has anything in hand on his handicap mark having been beaten off this mark over this trip last time. Conditions are ideal and he has an each-way chance again.

6/1
The King Of Prs Win or Each Way

14:00 Newcastle – Midnight Lion

Here’s a handicap over 1m2f. MIDNIGHT LION has taken on a new lease of life on the artificial, and while after two wins he’s up from 61 to 70, he’s been higher than this in the past. Course and distance are perfect and jockey Paul Mulrennan is in good form so there’s every chance the Jim Goldie runner can take some beating.

9/2
Midnight Lion Win or Each Way

14:40 Chelmsford – Riot (each-way)

A handicap over 1m. A huge field for this and we might get four places on the place terms. RIOT goes well here and is not badly handicapped off 81 for David O’Meara and Jason Watson. Stall eight is probably the perfect box at this track for a horse who usually just drops out behind the leaders and he should be able to slot in amongst the pace. If in good form he has every chance of coming through late for a place at least. An each-way chance.

18/1
Riot Win or Each Way

14:58 Ffos Las – One Big Bang

Here’s a handicap hurdle over 3m. I tipped ONE BIG BANG the other day at Cheltenham and was a little disappointed with his fourth place. Some will think The James Owen runner is now in the grip of the handicapper, but I’m not so sure, as he kept on well at the end of the Cheltenham event and it might just be it wasn’t a test enough for him. Henry Brooke is on top, which I like, and first time cheekpieces are added which might make the rider’s job a little easier.

9/4
One Big Bang Win or Each Way

15:15 Chelmsford – We Never Stop

A handicap over 6f. Sanat was an eye-catcher last time, but it’s the in-form WE NEVER STOP who will be hard to catch for Kevin Ryan and jockey Shane Gray. Stall three is perfect for a horse who is likely to go out on the front end and his second at Newcastle last time was a good run. He’s up 2lb for that defeat, which is not ideal, but this track should suit well and he has a reasonable chance of making all.

So best of luck, and pray for Yeeehaaas. You hear me, Paddy?
