11:58 – Knockbrex
KNOCKBREX bounced back to his best with a ready success at this course last week, quickening well from the rear to beat Hebridean Nomad by two and a half lengths, and he looks to hold leading claims under a penalty. With Charlie Johnston’s yard going well, he can see off the challenge of four-time course winner Epsom Faithfull who ran well in second to a progressive three-year-old here last time, while Hitched arrives in good form and could be in the mix.
12:28 – Lost In Time
Preference in the largest field on the card is for Dean Ivory’s gelding LOST IN TIME who figures off a handy mark and shaped well here as runner-up the last twice, including against progressive younger rival Paradoxical last time. The consistent Khangai, who carries a penalty for last week’s Southwell win, and Moon Over The Sea, also successful last time at Wolverhampton, head the list of dangers in an open-looking contest.
12:58 – Tadreeb
This four-runner contest can go the way of TADREEB who, after four months off, won with a bit to spare when landing a gamble over C&D last week on his first run for Rod Millman. He remains well treated on old form under a penalty for that defeat of Charlie Mason and is taken to record a fourth C&D success, with Fools Rush In the main danger having returned to form on his last couple of starts.
13:28 – Left Over Love
Having been sent off favourite, Richard Hannon’s filly LEFT OVER LOVE shaped promisingly on debut at Wolverhampton last month leading over a furlong out before being headed late on by Never Let Go – she can build on that effort to go one better. Charging Bull also showed ability before getting tired on his first start in sixth at Kempton, and is feared most, ahead of Hint of Humour who ran her best race when third in a nursery here last time.
13:58 – Carbine Harvester
The winner of both his starts in handicap company for William Haggas, CARBINE HARVESTER wasn’t fully extended when winning by three and a half lengths at Southwell 11 days ago, following an earlier nursery success at Wolverhampton, and he can overcome a penalty to land the hat-trick. Ardennes chased him home last time, but is better off at the weights here, while Brosay is respected having won at Southwell last time on his first start for Paul Attwater.
14:32 – Bowood
Having made one of his usual slow starts, Ivan Furtado’s BOWOOD ran a super race to go down by just a head to Vibrato at Southwell last time, and he can take this, if not giving too much ground away early on. Invincible Aura is capable of building on his good all-weather record, which saw him win at Southwell and Kempton last year, while cosy last-time-out winner Starshiba is respected under a 4 lb penalty for his course-and-distance success on New Year’s Eve.
15:07 – Init Together
INIT TOGETHER made an impressive winning debut for Tony Carroll in a classified stakes at Wolverhampton five days ago, in the style of one who will enjoy further success on the all-weather. He’s taken to follow up, at the possible expense of Come On John, who has been in top form but will need to settle better than he did at Newcastle last time. Harlington and Dubai Harbour, who met when fourth and first over course and distance last time, are also considered.
15:39 – Forever Proud
FOREVER PROUD continues to thrive and had something in hand when winning at Wolverhampton for the second start running on Tuesday, despite the quick turnaround, she’s fancied to add to her tremendous strike rate for James Owen having also won twice over this C&D earlier last year. Royal Observatory looks the main danger after his unlucky short-head defeat at Wolverhampton last time and Major Major, only a nose back in third in the same race, isn’t without hope.
