17:30 – Shades Of May
Time Patrol (second choice) was consistent towards the end of last year, and it will be interesting to see whether the combination of new headgear and a drop back in trip pays dividends for Comedian Leader.
However, one with some potential is handicap debutant SHADES OF MAY, who moves back up in trip after shaping quite well in a 5f Southwell maiden last month.
18:00 – Soldiers Star
He could not justify warm favouritism when upped to 7f for his second start, but SOLDIERS STAR went down fighting over 6f on his debut and is taken to open his account at the third attempt.
The recent Lingfield runner-up, This Farh, also drops back in trip today and looks like the main danger, although Claim That Smile has plenty of scope to better the bare form in his debut run.
18:30 – Carlton (NAP)
It’s hard to get away from CARLTON (nap), who finished well to mow down a handful of today’s rivals over C&D three weeks ago and is now 2-2 for James Owen.
Alex The Great has generally done well since joining Tony Carroll in the autumn and may fare best of the others, while Mamdoh has started off for Joseph Parr with two encouraging runs and is next on the list.
19:00 – Khutulun
Made The Cut remains of interest, while The Outlaw is feared and has more obvious claims following his Southwell run. Rumseg can probably improve now that she is entering the handicap sphere, but the suggestion is KHUTULUN, who is proven here and may have further progress in her.
19:30 – Triggered
Dual C&D winner Once Adaay will be dangerous off his current mark if he gets back on song after his break, but TRIGGERED is also well handicapped, and he took a big step back in the right direction when fourth at Kempton three weeks ago.
20:00 – Poles Apart
This weak race could provide a good opportunity for POLES APART, who posted some fairly good efforts over 7f last summer/autumn and looks ready to attempt 1m again. The refitted hood may aid free-goer Liege and is the second choice ahead of Platinum Jubilee, who sports first-time blinkers.
20:30 – Auguste Lumiere
Bohemian Breeze almost certainly retains the raw ability to win off his current mark, but he persistently hung left. He did not respond to his challenge when heavily backed at Lingfield two starts ago.
Preference is for AUGUSTE LUMIERE, who ran a big race in defeat over C&D on last month’s stable debut. Phone Tag (second choice) also makes significant appeal in an interesting finale.
