17:00 – Largo Bay
Disquietude displayed significant improvement when running on well for second at Wolverhampton on Saturday and could plausibly take another step forward over today’s longer trip but this return to Polytrack will suit class-dropper LARGO BAY, and he gets the vote in the hope he’s fully tuned up after a three-month break. Iftikhaar and Sneaky Blinder also have possibilities.
17:30 – Golden Thorn
The filly GOLDEN THORN showed pace when runner-up over 1m here on her second start and is taken to go one better now back down in trip. Transparent was a promising second over C&D on his debut and is feared most, but he isn’t without risk having been withdrawn subsequently after becoming upset in the stalls. Lingfield runner-up Vocal Legend is another to consider, along with the Ralph Beckett-trained newcomer Bozeman.
18:00 – Megaphone
The well-bred MEGAPHONE was withdrawn from his intended stable debut at Southwell last month having become upset in the stalls, but he was set to go off a short price and showed promise last May on his sole 2yo start. He earns the vote ahead of the 110,000gns newcomer Berkshire Whisper, with Newcastle runner-up Blue Empress next on the list.
18:30 – Runaround Sioux
The return to this C&D will suit Tyger Bay, who was placed on his final two starts in 2024 and remains well handicapped, but the suggestion is RUNAROUND SIOUX, who looked somewhat unlucky in two 6f races at Wolverhampton in the autumn and was probably stretched by 7f when again running well here three weeks ago. C&D specialist Big R is next on the list.
19:00 – Saturnalia
The progressive Profitman sill looks feasibly treated and is strongly respected back on Polytrack. November’s C&D winner Monopolise has claims on his step back up in trip, while Beauty Generation and Drumstick also enter the reckoning. However, preference is for SATURNALIA, who is on a dangerous mark and didn’t get any luck at Lingfield last week.
19:30 – Beccali (NAP)
Hippocratic Oath has form figures of 1121 in handicaps and he’s respected along with last month’s C&D novice winner Molveno, who still has plenty of potential after only three starts. However, the vote goes to Godolphin’s BECCALI (nap), who took another major step forward with his win at Wolverhampton and is open to more progress on this step up to 1m.
20:00 – Haaland
Having been denied a clear run when a close fifth on his recent comeback at Wolverhampton, HAALAND gets the nod on his second outing for Jim and Suzi Best. Zoran could be the main danger following his close third over C&D last time, while Robusto and Jack McNamara could also run well.
