12:05 – Khrisma

KHRISMA won a couple of bumpers in France and was third in a Grade 1 bumper at Fontainebleau in November 2023 on her final start for Emmanuel Clayeux, so she’s of obvious interest on her hurdling debut for Nicky Henderson. She gets the vote over Juby Ball, who is also a good prospect for hurdling, having won a Ffos Las bumper on debut before finishing runner-up in a strong contest here in February.

12:40 – Ostrava Du Berlais

OSTRAVA DU BERLAIS was disappointing over hurdles for Venetia Williams last season, but she shaped well when finding only a subsequent winner too strong in a handicap chase at Warwick, on her reappearance in November and has improved on that to register wide-margin wins at Ludlow and Taunton. She’s up against much tougher opposition here, but still looks on a fair mark, following a 9lb rise in the weights for her latest success and she can raise her game again to complete the hat-trick.

13:15 – Fine Casting

FINE CASTING was disappointing on his first couple of starts this season but produced an encouraging effort when runner-up to an in-form and younger rival at Lingfield last month. He’s edged up 2lb, but is still 4lb below a mark he easily defied a couple of seasons ago, so he’s still well treated if building on that recent encouragement. The good form of trainer Ben Pauling is also in his favour.

13:50 – Triple Trade

TRIPLE  TRADE has been disappointing in three starts this season, but he’s given a chance by the handicapper, and should benefit from the step up in trip. He’s now 3 lb below the mark he defied at Cheltenham, and 8 lb below the on he defied at Ascot last season, so he is clearly well treated if this stiffer test of stamina brings a return to form.

14:25 – Della Casa Lunga

DELLA CASA LUNGA progressed well last season, winning back-to-back handicaps at Ludlow, and she raised her game further this term. She was a good second, without being able to seriously threaten the talented winner in a listed hurdle at Kempton on her penultimate start, and she produced a better effort when successful in a mares’ handicap back at Kempton last week. The form she showed is the best on offer, so she looks the one to beat.

15:00 – Copperhead

COPPERHEAD has been rejuvenated this season and he completed a hat-trick as a wide-margin winner at Aintree in October. He’s had to settle for second on both subsequent starts, but he’s been running well in defeat, including over an inadequate trip at Cheltenham as he gamely stuck to his task up the hill. He’ll be suited by the step back up in trip and should give another good account of himself.

15:35 – Oh My Johnny

OH MY JOHNNY has made a promising start to his career and should have more to offer after only three starts under Rules. He looked set to win, until falling at the final flight at Bangor on his penultimate start, and he made amends in style at Uttoxeter last month, leading on the bridle soon after the third last and drawing five and a half lengths clear. An opening BHA mark of 116 could underestimate this lightly raced five-year-old.
