15:22 Southwell – Alyara
ALYARA popped up on her first try for this new outfit at 20/1, but isn’t going to be anything like that now, trying to follow up in what looks to be a very winnable division. She was a little bit keen in the early stages last time, and despite only winning by 3/4 of a length, her manner of victory was more comprehensive than that.
16:35 Southwell – Art Market
ART MARKET still doesn’t look fully exposed having won nicely twice in handicap company last season at Ascot and Yarmouth, including over today’s 7f trip. He seemed a little ‘flat’ on his final outing of the campaign at Newbury on turf and returns after a 106 day break. An early strike looks likely.
17:20 Wolverhampton – Miakoda
MIAKODA was expensive to follow, but has switched across to the red-hot James Owen team. He’s got the perfect stall two draw to attack early and return to this 5f trip could very well play to his strengths.
18:35 Southwell – Ormolulu
ORMOLULU seems to have found an extra gear since being switched to the Gemma Tutty stable, looking like another very shrewd purchase by the team. They wisely take off an additional 7lbs with Warren Fentiman in the saddle, who will have his eyes firmly on the champion apprentice title this term.
19:20 Wolverhampton – Nights Over Egypt
Although NIGHTS OVER EGYPT doesn’t have a particularly strong wins-to-runs ratio, he’s not badly treated on his sole win at this venue. He was a little too aggressive in the early stages last time, and drops back down in distance to 7f, which looks ideal. He’s got a handy draw in stall five over the tricky long-sprint distance start.
20:20 Wolverhampton – Crafter
The ‘old school’ master Mark Loughnane looks a perfect partner for his young jockey Mason Paetel who takes off a valuable 7lbs aboard CRAFTER. He’s already a course and distant winner and comes in on the back of three strong efforts under this pilot. The trainer has been talking up the youngster in the saddle as the next big thing! Let’s see if he starts to live up to the hype.
