15:55 Tortured Soul
Preference is for TORTURED SOUL, who appears to be working his way back to winning form. Charlie’s Choice (second choice) holds solid claims, while Arazzo has possibilities back over this C&D, Graze On Phoenix may do better still and At Vimeiro could go well at this level.
16:30 Grabajabba
Bear Rock finished in front of GRABAJABBA three weeks ago, but it was the selection’s debut, and he’s since won at Southwell. He can reverse the placings and defy a penalty. Waiting For Love disappointed at Southwell yesterday, but her earlier course win would give her strong claims if taking her chance.
17:00 Antelope
The shortlist is headed by the two runners who have good C&D form, namely ANTELOPE (narrowly preferred) and Queen Himiko. The fitting of cheekpieces may enable Mrbluesky to come out best in the tight rematch with Flaine and Tiempo Alegre, while Hashtagnotions has possibilities in the retained visor.
17:30 Secret Minstral (NAP)
With Level Up landing another wide stall, the three to appeal most are Gogo Yubari, Nelson Gay and SECRET MISTRAL (NAP). The selection has yet to be placed in six AW starts, but she’s fully effective around here, and the combination of a better draw, a reduced mark, and less competition for the lead make her of some interest this time.
18:00 Rogue Thunder
Neptune Legend (second choice) has the blinkers back on, and he’s capable of making a big run despite his wide stall.
Crocus Time isn’t solid but she could outperform her likely odds at this level, while Red Walls and Tilsworth Ony Ta also have something to recommend them. ROGUE THUNDER emerged from the pack to take third in a similar race here ten days ago, and he looks ready to strike. A market move for the unexposed and well-related Hallie Angel would alter the complexion of the race.
18:30 Bernie The Bear
Mashaan may confirm last week’s placings with Autumn Angel despite the weights turnaround and shorter trip, but he’ll need to pull out a bit more to gain a first win at 6f. BERNIE THE BEAR has been a thorn in the side of his backers this year, but he ran quite well from stall 12 here ten days ago, and he’s fared better with the draw today.
19:00 Coachello
An intriguing sprint with unexposed 3yos Filly One and Dyrholaey (second choice) taking on some more established performers. Airman and Crimson Sand make some appeal but COACHELLO may be worth chancing. He was rated 16lb higher when last running on the AW, and he will find this much more suitable than some of the red-hot turf handicaps he’s contested this summer.
19:30 Shes Centimental
The suggestion is SHES CENTIMENTAL, who looks worth a crack at this new trip and is interesting off a handy mark on only her third start for Mick Appleby. Outrace (second choice) and Ciotog are solid-looking dangers, while Harbour Vision and Port Erin also have clear possibilities on recent form.
20:00 Major Major
Dropped back in distance off an attractive mark in the retained blinkers, MAJOR MAJOR may be able to regain the winning thread. Lhebayeb, who has a good chance on the pick of her recent C&D form, is second choice ahead of Sun Festival who took a step back in the right direction last time. Royal Observatory is a likely player provided his recent win spawns consistency.
