12:00 KOPEK DES BORDES
KOPEK DES BORDES created an excellent impression when running out a wide-margin winner of his sole outing in bumpers at Fairyhouse in March and looks one to follow now switching to hurdling. He ran to a high level for a debutant and, given he’s related to plenty of useful hurdlers, he should continue his progress in this sphere for his top yard. Whinney Hill, Kawaboomga and Yeshil head up the opposition in what is likely to prove an informative maiden.
12:35 REDEMPTION DAY
REDEMPTION DAY comes to hurdling quite late but still rates a most exciting prospect based on his bumper exploits (smart performer in that sphere and was a Grade 1 winner in May), so he’s taken to get his career in this sphere off to the perfect start representing a yard with a good record in this contest. William Munny is another who boasts good-quality bumper form and can make his presence felt, with Workahead also feared following an encouraging hurdling debut at Navan earlier in the month.
13:10 WILLY DE HOUELLE
WILLY DE HOUELLE was turned over at short odds by Naturally Nimble in a Grade 3 at Fairyhouse at the beginning of the month, but he impressed with the way he went through that race, and is taken to reverse the form now that he meets that rival on 3 lb better terms in a refitted hood. Murcia ran to a useful level when opening her account by a wide margin in an Auteuil listed event in June and strong market support for her would put a slightly different slant on matters.
13:45 Love Me
LOVE ME took a sizeable step forward when landing a big-field handicap at Navan last month, well suited by a proper test despite her somewhat mixed pedigree and, with the performance supported by an excellent timefigure for the grade, she’s taken to defy an 8 lb rise and follow up. Johnny Blue shaped encouragingly on his recent stable debut at Cork and is second choice, with Addragoole another to consider having been handed a fair-looking opening mark.
14:20 Better Days Ahead
BETTER DAYS AHEAD claimed the notable scalp of Slade Steel in making a successful switch to chasing at Navan on his reappearance and appeals as the sort to take high rank in the intermediate and staying novice division this winter, so he’s narrowly preferred to his stablemate Croke Park, who held on gamely to land the Drinmore at the beginning of the month. Stellar Story was hardly impressive in landing the odds in the Florida Pearl but is surely capable of a good deal better and he is also one to consider in an intriguing renewal of this Grade 1.
14:55 AN PEANN DEARG
AN PEANN DEARG wasted no time getting back on track when runner-up to a subsequent winner at Wexford in October, appreciating the return to a shorter trip, and could be the answer now returned to handicap company having been left on the same mark. Affordale Fury shaped as if amiss when last seen 13 months ago but retains plenty of potential as a chaser, with old rivals The King of Prs and The Folkes Tiara completing the shortlist.
15:30 MA JACKS HILL
An interesting bumper to conclude the card with MA JACKS HILL edging the vote having shaped with plenty of promise when third on last month’s Rules debut at Fairyhouse. Connections went to €310,000 after he won his only completed start in points and he has the potential to improve further. Green Splendour and Burrows Drive are considered the main threats before market clues.
