Mick is sweet on Sine Nomine each-way (13:35) to back up a Cheltenham Foxhunters Chase win last season.

12:45 Kempton – Es Perfecto

A novices chase where there’s a couple who represent a bit of value. ES PERFECTO ran in this contest last year and finished a good third to Blow Your Wad then and is only 3lbs higher in the weights. Alan King’s runner is a course winner who travels well in his races, so there are a lot of positives. He looks the solid option to me. Fire Flyer also has his chance.

13:05 Aintree – Potters Charm

A Grade One Novices Hurdle where POTTERS CHARM set the standard. A slight concern is the fact he drops back to 2m although he did win a 2m bumper at Ffos Las on heavy ground last season by a fair margin. He looks smart and there was a lot to like about his recent wins at Cheltenham albeit over 2m 4f and 2m 5f. If you can get over the drop in trip – he’s the one to be on.

13:20 Kempton – The Jukebox Man

THE JUKEBOX MAN jumped really well over 2m 4f last time when winning at Newbury last time but he hung so badly left there that a right-handed track like Kempton is a concern. The step up to 3m will suit and while he’s the most likely winner, he’s a short enough price. I won’t go against him but I won’t be shocked if he’s beaten.

13:35 Wetherby – Sine Nomine (each-way)

The 3m Rowland Meyrick Handicap Chase could see SINE NOMINE get back to her best after her Foxhunters Chase win at Cheltenham. She unseated on her seasonal run but local trainer Fiona Needham will have targeted this contest for her. She’s a strong traveller in her races and stays well so can pick them off as we get to the business end of the contest. She looks a very good each-way shout in a race where the likely market leader Cruz Control has a bit to prove.

13:55 Kempton – Constitution Hill

A small but very select field for the Christmas Hurdle – if they all turn up. Burdett Road and Lump Sum both go forward so should ensure a decent pace for CONSTITUTION HILL and Lossiemouth to aim at. The wonder horse Constitution Hill seems back to his best and I watched him schooling the other day and he was brilliant. Connections also think he’s back to his best. He’s still only a seven-year-old and despite all the obstacles he’s had to overcome since we last saw him on a racetrack – I think he’ll win.

14:30 Kempton – Spillane’s Tower

The King George VI Chase is the feature race of the day and there’s something for everyone with English, Irish and French challengers. Envoi Allen could be under the radar despite a good win last time at Down Royal and Il Est Francais would have been my fancy but he burst a blood vessel last time when beaten in France. SPILLANE’S TOWER is a worthy market leader and if his trainer feels the ground is soft enough for him to run – he’s the one I’d like to be on.
