11:30 Crafter
Crafter was beaten only a nose over this course and distance on his penultimate start and he went one better over this track and trip last time, providing his young apprentice with a first success. Crafter was ultimately nicely on top, drawing clear inside the final half-furlong to win by a length and a quarter, and he should give another good account after edging up 3 lb in the weights.
12:00 Zip It Up
Zip It Up created a good impression when registering a dominant seven-and-a-half-length success at Kempton in September and she should prove difficult to beat. Needlepoint failed to repeat the form of her Chantilly maiden victory when third at Chelmsford last month, but she’s entitled to step up on that first start for 17 months so could provide the main threat.
12:30 Monsieur Kodi
Monsieur Kodi was only eighth at Chelmsford last time but that effort is best overlooked as he was hampered inside the final furlong when attempting to make headway, and he has yet to fully convince over seven furlongs in any case. Monsieur Kodi had been in good form over six furlongs prior to that, winning at Chelmsford and finishing third at Newcastle, and he should be suited by the return to this distance. Warren Fentiman has made an encouraging start to his career and takes off a handy 7 lb here.
13:00 Daaris
Daaris has been in good form of late and followed up a win at Wolverhampton with a cracking effort in defeat when runner-up back at the same venue. Daaris was a good third at Newcastle on Saturday so if he doesn’t take up his engagement here the one to be with could be Arch Legend who is back below his last winning mark and looked in decent form when fourth here on his penultimate start. He was below form at Chelmsford last time but did too much too soon and is better judged on previous efforts.
13:30 Time Patrol
Time Patrol has proved consistent in recent weeks and can gain reward here. Time Patrol has finished in the frame on his last five starts and he was beaten less than a length in fourth at Kempton last time when keeping on well. He’s able to run off the same mark here and can be relied upon to give another good account.
14:00 Ravensbourne
Ravensbourne got back on track when beaten two and a quarter lengths in third over this course and distance last time and it’s possible she would have finished a little closer with a clear run. She’s eased another 1 lb in the weights and is fitted with blinkers for the first time in a bid to eke out a bit extra, so she gets the vote for Michael Keedy who enjoyed the perfect start to his training career as a sole licence holder when Currumbin scored at Southwell on Thursday.
14:30 Twilight Fun
Twilight Fun has enjoyed a productive year, winning three times, and he’s been in excellent order since returning to the all-weather. Twilight Fun registered back-to-back wins at Chelmsford and then ran at least as well in defeat when only narrowly denied at Wolverhampton last time. He was headed close home but clearly remains in form and should go well again.
15:00 Bell Shot
Bell Shot shaped as if back in form when beaten by a couple of unexposed three-year-olds when third at Kempton last month and he’s been eased another 1 lb in the weights. Trainer Mick Appleby has been back among the winners of late following a quiet spell and Bell Shot looks likely to launch a bold bid over a course and distance he was successful over on his last visit to Lingfield in March.
15:30 Book Of Life
Book of Life has yet to win since joining this yard from France and his losing run stretches back to December 2022, but he has fared better on the all-weather in recent months and been placed on his last three outings. Book of Life was beaten only a short-head at Wolverhampton on his penultimate start and then arguably produced an even better effort in defeat when runner-up back at the same venue last week. He moved sweetly through that contest but conceded first run to Swatch (who reopposes here) and couldn’t quite reel in that rival, missing out by half a length. He meets the winner on 2 lb better terms and can turn the tables.
