Plenty are in with a shout but this could go the way of multiple course winner PORT NOIR who is taken to gain another deserved success after a series of good efforts here this winter. Fellow in-form mares Balqaa (second choice) and Lhebayeb also seem sure to be on the premises, with Star Of St James and Molly Valentine weighted to have a say too.
16:40 Made The Cut
This looks wide open so it could be worth siding with George Boughey’s MADE THE CUT to build on previous promise and take a sizeable step forward now handicapping. Recent C&D scorer Georginio rates a big threat though with other handicap debutants Ruling Master and Magna Gee Gee in the picture too.
17:15 Star Of Light
A hard race to call with a couple of interesting newcomers against two who have already shown promise. However, if STAR OF LIGHT has the ability to match her illustrious pedigree she will be hard to beat. Lesson Of Life should have learnt a lot from her debut run here and could be her main danger.
17:45 Powdering
Happy Hadeda is better than she showed at Kempton last time and can bounce back, while Triumph Of Peace still has potential if she can calm down in the stalls. Byzantine Empress (second choice) is a big player back at 7f but POWDERING, who was behind her here over 6f 19 days ago, saw no daylight in the straight on that occasion and can turn the tables.
18:15 Alfheim (NAP)
A number of these arrive with a question mark against them so this looks a very good opportunity for George Boughey’s ALFHEIM (NAP) to continue her excellent start for her new yard and follow up her recent course success. C&D winner Black Smoke could emerge as the main danger with Dark Mystery and Grand Duchess Olga in the mix too.
18:45 Whats In The Bag
Havana Sky is on a roll but this is a step up in class. Better is expected from One More Wave this time but WHATS IN THE BAG can confirm the promise of his fast-finishing second at Lingfield 18 days ago.
19:15 Master Of My Fate
Mumayaz is better than he showed last time but this could rest between Darlo Pride and MASTER OF MY FATE, first and second at Newcastle 12 days ago. The former should theoretically confirm the placings on these terms, but Master Of My Fate didn’t enjoy quite such a clean run on that occasion, and he’s since won decisively at Southwell. He could yet prove a cut above a Class 5 performer.
19:45 Storm Asset
New headgear and the booking of Rossa Ryan suggest this could be the day that Legend Of Leros bounces back to form off such a lowly mark and his presence muddies the waters. The betting will provide clues, but as things stand, perhaps STORM ASSET will prove the answer. He had a torrid run in the straight here last time and is still treated as being in good form.
Inspiring Speeches has had a short break since disappointing last time, and he’s respected, with the veteran My Brother Mike (second choice) and Thursday’s Chelmsford winner Forever Proud others to come into the reckoning.
20:15 Overnight Oats
Harry The Haggler and the hat-trick-seeking The Spotlight Kid are high on the list, but OVERNIGHT OATS has rediscovered his spark in recent weeks and can make it four on the bounce.
