11:45 Classic Maestro
CLASSIC MAESTRO has been in good form over hurdles recently, winning his last two starts in that sphere, and with his sole rival returning from a three-year absence, he is impossible to oppose now back over fences (shaped well when runner-up on his debut in this sphere last season).
12:20 Honneur DAjonc
HONNEUR DAJONC justified good support in opening his account on the third attempt for this yard at Fontwell in September, and it’s probably best to put his latest run down the field at Uttoxeter down to a bad day at the office. His win at Fontwell was a career-best effort, and he is taken to bounce back for a yard, which continues to knock in the winners.
The unexposed newcomer Medieval Gold is feared most ahead of fellow handicap hurdle newcomer Speed Davis.
12:55 Holloway Queen
Having fetched £180,000 despite not winning her point, HOLLOWAY QUEEN created a very favourable impression when successful on her Rules debut at Lingfield three weeks ago.
She jumped well and travelled fluently, leaving the impression there’s even more to come, so she’s fancied to take this step up in class in her stride, for all Fromheretoeternity can call upon plenty of experience under Rules.
13:30 Intimate
INTIMATE made a promising start over fences when finding only Mount Tempest too good at Sandown a couple of weeks ago and with the likelihood of better to come from this six-year-old, he looks the way to go in ground conditions which shouldn’t pose any problem.
Next on the list is Cerendipity, who is bidding to win second time out for the third consecutive season, while last year’s winner Netywell and Xcitations also warrant consideration.
14:05 East Street
EAST STREET hasn’t looked back since being fitted with a visor, winning twice over fences prior to completing a hat-trick over hurdles at this course 17 days ago.
He could well be up to going in again returned to larger obstacles with his rider able to take off his very handy 7lb claim, while he also has form in testing conditions. Last year’s winner Famous Bridge returned with a good second behind a course specialist at Kelso, and he’s feared most, with Credo and Regal Blue others capable of playing their part.
14:40 Lune De La Mer
LUNE DE LA MER was placed in all three starts in points and looked a good prospect when winning a bumper and maiden hurdle at Aintree in 2023. He overcame inexperience on the latter occasion, around five lengths clear after jumping the last and not doing much in front.
He returns from a 19-month absence now, but remains with untapped potential, and represents an in-form yard now making his handicap debut. Jilaijone may have to settle for runner-up spot once more, while Coventry and Bertie’s Ballet could also have a say.
15:15 Supremely West
SUPREMELY WEST had an excellent first season over hurdles and has a notable piece of form when well clear with Gwennie May Boy (subsequently won a big handicap at Aintree) on his final outing of last season. He shaped as if he’d returned in top form when third at Hexham 70 days ago, just doing too much too soon, so he looks the one to beat for all that several others arrive in good order. Half Track and Magical King are both obvious dangers.
