12:45 Double Powerful
DOUBLE POWERFUL is a really progressive sort, and he completed a remarkable six-timer at Cheltenham last month. Double Powerful produced his best effort yet when landing that competitive event at Cheltenham and he looks up to coping with a 7lb rise in the weights.
Champagne Twist unseated his rider on his return in a different race at Cheltenham last month, but he won the EBF Final at Sandown last season and is respected on that form.
13:20 Belliano
BELLIANO, a £255,000 purchase after winning an Irish point, made an encouraging start to his career under Rules when runner-up to The New Lion at Chepstow. Belliano was understandably no match for the winner who looks set to make his mark in graded company, but the form he showed there is just about the pick on offer, and he is entitled to improve for that experience.
Country Park has also shown ability over hurdles and produced his best effort yet when runner-up at Cheltenham last time, so he appeals as the main danger.
13:55 Ryans Rocket
Irish point winner RYANS ROCKET is a chasing type on looks, and he created a good impression when making a successful start over fences at Chepstow last month. Ryan’s Rocket won twice from four starts during his brief spell over hurdles but he improved on that form on his chasing debut, jumping soundly and staying on well to win by three lengths.
He remains open to further improvement in this sphere and gets the nod over Iberico Lord, who was a smart hurdler and made the most of what turned out to be a good opportunity on his chasing debut at Kempton last month.
14:30 Golden Move
GOLDEN MOVE, a useful sort on the Flat who fetched 215,000 guineas, made an underwhelming start over hurdles when only placed in a couple of maidens at Taunton and Wincanton last season. However, he showed much-improved form on his return from an eight-month break when making a successful handicap debut back at Wincanton a couple of weeks ago.
Golden Move, who had undergone a breathing operation and was fitted with first-time cheekpieces, really impressed with how he jumped and travelled for the most part and was closed down only late on after making a rare mistake at the final flight. He remains open to further improvement, particularly under these less-testing conditions, so he looks up to defying an 8lb rise in the weights.
15:05 Johnnywho
JOHNNYWHO will come into his own when faced with stiffer tests of stamina, but this looks like a weak Grade 2, and he should be good enough to prevail, even if the trip is shorter than ideal.
Johnnywho made a highly promising start over fences when winning a novice at Carlisle in October and again showed plenty of aptitude for chasing when third in a Grade 2 at Newbury last month. He still has more to offer over fences and remains one to be positive about.
15:40 Moneygarrow
MONEYGARRROW is a brother to two winners, including the smart chaser Minella Crooner, and he looked a good prospect when making a winning start under Rules at Chepstow in October.
Irish point winner Moneygarrow was never far away, was produced to lead approaching the two-furlong pole, and powered six lengths clear despite looking a shade green under pressure. He’s likely to improve for that experience and gets the vote in a warm-looking contest.
