16:15 – Sharkii
I was really keen on Lunigiana last time out but I’m struggling to follow her. Sharkii is my selection but it’s more of a default pick. He was second last time out at Dundalk and although he isn’t straightforward, he’ll benefit from that run. Colin Keane is on board and going back up in trip to 6f will suit. Tropical Retreat could be an each-way angle as she’s a filly that can win races.
16:45 – Shaaden
Shaaden is very interesting for Pat Flynn with Billy Lee on board. She’s back down to 7f after running over a mile last time out at Dundalk. She won twice in November and she ran better than the bare result in December. She can be competitive in this grade and Flynn’s horses are flying at the moment.
17:15 – Molto Amichi (each-way)
This is a horrible and gritty Maiden to work out! It’s a typical December Maiden at Dundalk. The jockey bookings could be the key and Luke McAteer rides Molto Amichi for Eoin Griffin and he could be the value pick. I was surprised they ran him over 1m 4f at the end of last season and if he can get back to his promise of his first couple of runs in September and October, he can go close. The drop down in trip and the surface should suit.
17:45 – Eyema Candy Girl
Stepping up to a mile should really suit Eyema Candy Girl and she will have taken a lot from her win at Dundalk in November. The form has held up and given how she stayed on in the final furlong, she’s worth sticking with. I like her attitude and this should be a well-run mile on the polytrack. She should be hard to beat for Joseph O’Brien.
18:15 – Harrys Legacy (NAP)
Harrys Legacy should be very hard to beat for Henry de Bromhead. He ran well at Dundalk in September and he didn’t run well on turf in his last couple of runs. He’ll enjoy the trip and he’s dropped to a mark of 75. If he’s anywhere near his best, he should win.
18:45 – Nusra (each-way)
I was keen on Nusra last month but it didn’t go to plan. She didn’t have cheekpieces on that day but she still ran a respectable race. She’s got cheekpieces on this time and she’s a cracking each-way bet even though her draw in stall 17 isn’t great.
19:15 – Billie Frechette (Next Best)
Billie Frechette will benefit from the recent run at Dundalk when finishing second behind the reopposing Just Another Eagle. Colin Keane takes the ride and she should be sharp. She’ll be hard to beat and she can make amends after an unlucky run last time out.
19:45 – Ceallach
Ceallach looking big in the parade ring at Dundalk earlier this month and with the benefit of the run, he can be more effective. I wouldn’t rule out Come On The Lads but he’s had a busy few months. Ceallach, who has won at Dundalk five times, is the one to beat.
