Each and every day of the racing year, we bring you a bumper NAPS Table to give you the inside scoop on all the plays you’ll need that day.
Don’t know what an NAPs Table is? We’ll tell you! It’s an independently run competition involving the cream of the British and Irish racing press whose positions in the table are based on their profits to Level Stakes. And just like all sports competitions worldwide, those doing best are towards the top of the table.
So, we decided to put that golden guide to the test and use it to steer you towards what could be a savvy Lucky 15 (4 horses, 15 bets) today. The four you’ll see below are the selections of some of the top-performing tipsters in the Table. Let’s get to the picks…
14:35 Ludlow – Cabhfuilfungi (The Guardian)
Unless an out-of-form Time To Dazzle puts some pace to the race this could be steadily run, a scenario that wouldn’t see the in-form Famoso at the peak of his powers.
However it’s run, CABHFUILFUNGI holds persuasive form claims after finishing second to subsequent winners in both his runs over fences. Alcedo has to be of interest in his first chase and handicap, for all that he would probably approve of slower ground.
15:35 Newbury – Yeld To Call (Spotlight)
Ride Like A Girl sets the standard having finished second at Stratford on debut and there’s every chance she’ll improve, but there are some interesting debutantes to consider.
Top of the list is YELD TO CALL for the in-form Jane Williams, who saddled a newcomer to win a junior bumper at Bangor last week. Anthony Honeyball won this last year, and Arfursgal is second choice, while Toby Bulgin has an eye-catching record in bumpers this season and runs Tyger Lily.
17:55 Dundalk – Amemri (The Irish Sun)
The filly AMEMRI will need to break better than here last time, but she still finished upsides Mullacash Buzz, who has live claims. Half Nutz and Big Baby Bull are others with chances. Recent course winner Senado Square has his stamina to prove.
18:40 Kempton – Helm Rock (Telegraph)
A useful contest. HELM ROCK looked to have a bit to spare when resuming winning ways at Southwell last month so a 3lb rise may not prevent him going in again.
Second choice is Local Hero who made a good return to AW at Lingfield five weeks ago and is 2-2 at Kempton. Kalamunda’s Southwell defeat last month probably shouldn’t be taken to suggest the handicapper has got him, particularly if getting a good pace to aim at. This is no easy introduction to handicaps for Fast Society back from another break but he’s a fascinating contender.
