12:05 – Liam Swagger

LIAM SWAGGER has to carry the maximum penalty and is conceding plenty of weight, but he has created a fine impression over hurdles and could be up to the task.

Liam Swagger showed fairly useful form on the Flat without managing to win, but he was off the mark at the first attempt over hurdles, jumping well on his way to an emphatic win at Market Rasen.

He had to work much harder to follow up in listed company at Wetherby last time, but he stuck to his task well and remains open to further improvement over hurdles.

Miss Altea Blue made no impact in a listed event over this course and distance last month but is of interest based on the form she showed in France, so she’s the obvious danger.

12:40 – Roysse

ROYSSE showed ability in bumpers last season, beating a good prospect when getting off the mark at the second attempt here in January, and he offered plenty to work with when runner-up over this course and distance last month on his hurdling debut.

Roysse was well backed and went through much of the contest like the best horse in the race, seeming in control three out, but he possibly needed the run on his first start for ten months and was headed on the run-in.

He sets the standard on that form and is entitled to be sharper with the run under his belt, so he’s the one to beat. Mistress Emma looked a decent prospect when winning a bumper at Worcester in June 2022, so she is an interesting runner on her first start since then.

Roysse Win or Each Way

13:15 – Wrappedupinmay

Point winner WRAPPEDUPINMAY is a stout stayer and looks the type who will raise his game over fences, so he makes appeal on his chasing debut.

He perhaps didn’t hit the heights expected of him over hurdles last season, given the level of form he’d shown when a wide-margin winner on his bumper debut at Exeter the previous campaign.

But he saw things out well to win a handicap hurdle back at Exeter when last seen in January, and he remains with the potential to do better.

He has had a breathing operation since last seen.

Wrappedupinmay Win or Each Way

13:50 – Nativehill

NATIVEHILL is a half-brother to numerous winners, most notably the top-class chaser Bellshill, and he fetched £260,000 after winning his second start in an Irish point.

He has joined a leading trainer in Nicky Henderson and starts out under Rules with the yard among the winners, so he makes obvious appeal on paper.

Buckna, who was also an expensive recruit from the Irish pointing field, showed ability when runner-up on his hurdling debut at Ffos Las, and he is a big danger.

7/4
Nativehill Win or Each Way

14:25 – Javert Allen

JAVERT ALLEN is a rangy gelding and quickly improved his hurdling form when making a successful start over fences at Chepstow last month.

Javert Allen typically travelled with plenty of zest, jumped well in the main and created a good impression as he was driven clear to win by two and a quarter lengths.

A 5 lb rise in the weights could underestimate this lightly raced five-year-old who should still have more to offer over fences.

6/4
Javert Allen Win or Each Way

15:00 – Densworth

DENSWORTH weakened into fifth on his chasing debut and reappearance at Aintree in October. But he proved a different proposition with that under his belt and showed much-improved form when successful at Wetherby last month.

Densworth was well on top at Wetherby, ultimately passing the post seven and a half lengths clear, and he remains with the potential to do better after only two starts over fences. So he can cope with a 9 lb rise in the weights.

5/2
Densworth Win or Each Way

15:35 – Arfursgal

Anthony Honeyball won this contest 12 months ago, and his newcomers always command respect, so it could be worth siding with his representative ARFURSGAL, who is from the family of Irish Oaks winner Vintage Tipple and will have the assistance of Sam Twiston-Davies in the saddle.

Ride Like A Girl made an encouraging start to her career when runner-up at Stratford in October so has an obvious chance.

9/4
Arfursgal Win or Each Way
