13:50 Cheltenham – Madara (NAP)
A lot of these are reopposing from the Paddy Power Gold Cup at Cheltenham. Il Ridoto was a good winner that day but he’s got a 7lb penalty so I’m siding with Madara. He came home really well at Cheltenham and Harry Skelton takes the ride. He was an eye catcher that day and he can win this.
14:05 Doncaster – Ballycoose (each-way)
This is a really hard race to get a handle on and I’ve landed on Ballycoose for Stuart Crawford as an each-way shout. He ran okay at Punchestown last month but he needed the run. Sean Flanagan takes the ride at Doncaster and his mark of 127 is workable. It’s a tentative pick though.
14:25 Cheltenham – Issar DAiry
I like Issar DAiry for Gary and Josh Moore. He was well fancied on his last start at Newbury but he didn’t get a run down the home straight. He was unlucky that day and he should have finished closer than he did. Freddie Mitchell claims 5lbs and cheekpieces are on too. He’ll do me.
14:40 Doncaster – West Balboa
On ratings, West Balboa is going to be very hard to beat. She’s rated 143 which is well clear than her opposition. I’m with the Skelton runner and everything is in her favour. She should be very hard to beat.
15:00 Cheltenham – Jet Blue
Jennie Candlish has done a wonderful job with Skyjack Hijack but I like the French raider Jet Blue for David Cottin. He’s been first and second on his only two starts over hurdles at Auteuil and he was competing on the Flat before that. He should stay and he could be an exciting horse.
15:15 Doncaster – Altobelli
Altobelli was disappointing on his last start but he’s got solid form before that. Harry Fry has only had a few runners recently but they’ve been winning so the yard is in form. Off a mark of 130, he could still be ahead of the handicapper.
15:35 Cheltenham – Royale Margaux
Joyeuse has a chance but she’s short in the market. I’m with Royale Margaux for Tom Symonds. She ran over fences last season and she impressed at Ascot in November. Dropping down in trip will suit her and she was rated a lot higher when going over fences.
