13:15 Sandown – DUBROVNIK HARRY (each-way)

ITV Racing Saturday comes from Sandown and Aintree starting here with a handicap hurdle over nearly 3m. Stamina is absolutely key here and DUBROVNIK HARRY has that in spades. The Harry Fry runner is lightly raced with just ten runs under his belt and he’s only won once. However a fourth in a Pertemps qualifier at Cheltenham was a fine effort last season and he was a decent third at this track when last seen in February. A mark of 125 is clearly workable if he’s ready and Bryan Carver is on top. Each-way claims.

13:32 Aintree – NO RISK DES FLOS (each-way)

Aintree action on ITV Racing starts here with a handicap chase over 2m4f. This is tricky and I’m not that strong on any of them. NO RISK DES FLOS is well handicapped on the best of his hurdle form and he kept on well enough against the too classy L’Eau du Sud at Stratford last time. This trip looks about right and Sean Bowen is in cracking form and rides for Olly Murphy. An each-way chance.

13:50 Sandown –  L’EAU DU SUD

Up in class now for the Grade 1 Henry VII Novices’ Chase over nearly 2m. This is not a walk over for L’EAU DU SUD on paper even if the betting may suggest that on the day. However, I was so taken with his chase win at Cheltenham the other day that I’m in no mood to oppose the Dan and Harry Skelton runner. Was a decent hurdler and looks an even better chaser.

14:07 Aintree – King Turgeon

The Becher Handicap Chase over 3m2f of the Grand National fences. As we all now know you just forget about this being over the National fences as they are easier to jump than normal ones. KING TURGEON was a ready winner of the Becher and now he’s up 8lb over a longer trip. On that basis he’s up against it, but his back form suggests he stays well and he’s a young horse who should be improving all the time.

14:25 Sandown – ALTOBELLI (each-way)

A handicap hurdle over 2m. Willmount could be absolutely chucked in here if he’s as good as he once was. That said, I’ve always felt there is a decent prize in ALTOBELLI and I’m happy to chance him each-way in the hope he’s another for Harry Fry and Bryan Carver. My hope is 1lb lower when a fine second at Ascot last season and 2lb lower than when third at the same track. The ground should be ideal. So I’ll have a few quid on each-way.

15:00 Sandown – JONBON

The big race of the day in the Grade 1 Tingle Creek Chase over nearly 2m. A big than expected field but I just don’t see how anyone beats JONBON who on a mark of 170 is easily the best horse and landed the prize last season. Indeed he’s unbeaten in four starts at the Esher track and he’ll need a race named after him soon if he takes this once again for Nicky Henderson and Nico de Boinville.

15:17 Aintree – THE NAGGER REIDY (each-way)

A handicap hurdle over 2m4f. This is tough to sort out but I’ll chance THE NAGGER REIDY each-way for Jonny Burke and Stephen Carey. The Irish raider has goner up from 95 to 118 in two recent runs which makes things tricky. However, he’s a young horse who is at the right end of the handicap and has a fine racing weight of 10st 7lb. He just might have much more to give.

15:35 Sandown – Mr Vango

The London National Handicap Chase over an extended 3m4f. The Bradstock team need a winner and MR VANGO has everything in his favour for a big run under Nico de Boinville. My selection was last seen pulled up in the Scottish National, but he started favourite for that on the back of decent efforts at Exeter and Cheltenham. He stays all day and the ground is perfect. Added to which, the handicap mark is still reasonable.

So best of luck, and pray for Yeeehaaas. You hear me Paddy?
