17:30 – Kentucky River
KENTUCKY RIVER wasn’t given a hard time once his winning opportunity had gone and he hit the line quite nicely to be beaten by just four lengths at Chelmsford when fifth on debut last time.
Given how Ollie Sangster’s runners significantly improve with their racing, we can expect another step up the ladder. He looks sure to give the only winner in the line-up, Edge Ofthe Unknown, plenty to think about.
18:00 – No Surrender
NO SURRENDER now finds himself fully 12lb below his opening handicap mark, which looked high enough off the back of a Leicester success.
Ellandonna, who was just in behind, has given his last run a solid form boost, running an absolute cracker in the Winter Oaks trial. He possibly has been let in lightly with only a slight nudge up the weights from the assessor for that performance.
18:30 – Lerwick
LERWICK has only run on a synthetic surface once when putting up an excellent effort behind a multiple all-weather winner, Lough Leane, at Southwell.
The Ed Bethell yard appear to be very selective with their runners at present and are operating at a 33 per cent strike rate. I’d imagine this squad are readying a few for the start of the New Year.
19:00 – Alzahir
ALZAHIR hasn’t been with the Jennie Candlish team that long, yet has put together three very strong consecutive runs, including when getting no run whatsoever and finishing only 3 1/2 lengths behind Yorkshire over this course and distance.
He’s been handed a decent starting position over the long sprint distance of 7f and has the quality to carry top weight to victory.
20:30 – The Pug
THE PUG has a few bits of form fairly recently around this venue from a mark of 65, suggesting that he looks particularly well treated on his first try for the Adrian Wintle outfit. They paid 6,500 guineas to pick him up at the horses- in-training sale.
The trainer has a healthy strike rate when teaming up with Finley Marsh and he looks sure to go well in the lucky last.
