Course and distance winner Tiger Crusade (13:50) could be well handicapped at a nice price.

11:20 – Zu Run

Joint top-weight ZU RUN had excuses on both his starts at Wolverhampton, after winning there in October, and the feeling remains this mark is well within range. With his yard in good form, he gets the vote at the expense of Mumayaz (back up in trip after racing over 5f recently) and Whoop Whoop (change of headgear – won in first-time cheekpieces in September). Daryll Holland won the race last year, with Dutch Kingdom, so any support for the same connections’ Dynamic Talent in the same headgear combo would look significant.

11:50 – Solar Army

Stall 11 doesn’t make life easy, but SOLAR ARMY should probably have won at Southwell a fortnight ago, and in the hope he keeps straight this time under pressure, he could be the answer under a 3lb rise in the weights. This is open, though, with handicap newcomers Rage of Thunder (not knocked about last time) and Blue Secret (nicely-bred Blue Point filly) a couple of potential threats. Kempton third placer Sweet Fantastic also fits that bill, and along with all-the-way Wolverhampton winner Beauty By My Side, rates as a big danger.

12:20 – Texas Starlight

Having shaped promisingly at Newmarket on debut, €185,000 purchase TEXAS STARLIGHT had little difficulty with opening her account at Southwell last time, and she can follow up under a 7lb penalty with more to offer. The biggest threat could come from the newcomers in the line up, with six-figure purchase Go Go Boots, whose dam was a 9.5f winner as a two-year-old, making plenty of appeal, ahead of Diamond Lil, Miss Herschel and Joyful Sound. Miss Herschel was withdrawn after being unruly in the stalls on her intended debut in September, but catches the eye on breeding, as does Joyful Sound, a half-sister to the high-class Jakkalberry.

12:50 – Blast The Dream

BLAST THE DREAM showed plenty to work with at fifth in a Newmarket novice on heavy ground and Roger Varian’s filly can make her second start a winning one. She wasn’t knocked about, behind Sea Poetry that day, and this Oasis Dream filly is expected to relish the longer trip here (dam a 1m-1¼m winner, including at two). Newcomers Niminy Piminy and Gray Rainbow may prove the biggest dangers, the latter being closely related to the useful 1¾m-16.6f winner Great Return, representing an in-form yard, while neither Joody nor Blue Laced showed enough on recent debuts on the all-weather to instil too much fear in their rivals.

13:20 – Charlotte’s Web

This Winter Oaks Trial has been dominated by Simon and Ed Crisford for the past two seasons and both Al Agaila and Oh So Grand proved progressive enough to follow up their Trial wins in the big race itself. This year’s representative CHARLOTTE’S WEB, who won with a bit up her sleeve at Newcastle last time, is expected to defy a 6lb rise in the weights and complete her hat trick. Elladonna, a fair third at the track last time, and Nicky Henderson’s dual-purpose performer Therapist are potential threats, along with Kinetic who should be much more at home back in handicap company.

13:50 – Tiger Crusade

C&D winner TIGER CRUSADE hasn’t won for a while, but the assessor gives him a major chance back on his favoured surface, so he’s an appealing candidate with Luke Morris in the saddle for the first time. A hood may help Smart Hero settle, and he’s feared with this trip, not a problem if he races less keenly, along with Hafeet Alain who is down slightly in class, and Serenity Dream (cheek-pieces on for the first time) who is starting to look well-treated.

8/1
Tiger Crusade Win or Each Way

14:25 – Poetic Jack

Though he has a poor draw, the straightforward POETIC JACK arrives in top form, which can’t be said for many of his rivals, and he might be able to go one better than last time if he can get a reasonable position from stall 10. Sisters In The Sky is a threat, despite her even wider draw, while the former Marcus Tregoning-trained Alshimali is worth interest on his second outing for his current yard. Also worth a second look is Southbank, who has Dylan Hogan taking over from a less experienced pilot, as the horse steps back up in trip.

4/1
Poetic Jack Win or Each Way

14:55 – Currumbin

Sean Dylan Bowen got a good tune out of CURRUMBIN in third at Wolverhampton last month. The experienced three-year-old has slipped in the weights, and took a firm step back in the right direction, in a first-time-hood on debut for this yard in the West Midlands, so he’s worth taking a chance on in a wide open contest. The free going Hill Station should ensure the race is run at a decent tempo, which should suit the Hilal Kobeissi-trained selection. In form pair Fravanco, a proven C&D winner, and the unexposed maiden Highland Slipper are others to consider.

4/1
Currumbin Win or Each Way

15:25 – Overnight Oats

Timeform ‘Horse In Focus’ OVERNIGHT OATS is one of many from his yard that are thriving at the moment and, having only gone up 4lb for his latest success, he’s well fancied to complete a hat trick having produced a good turn of foot last time out over slightly shorter. Brighton regular River Wharfe arrives on the back of a solid showing, and looks a danger at a venue where he’s enjoyed success, and Star of Atlantis is unexposed for her current stable. Luke Morris takes over in the saddle on Charlatan, and it would be no surprise to see an improved performance from this C&D winner, despite a wide draw.
