12:20 – Julius Des Pictons
As regards the runners who already have hurdles experience, solid contenders JULIUS DES PICTONS and Geturguccion stand out. Long-absent Go West has possibilities on the pick of his bumper form, while Elysian Knight is open to progress.
12:50 – Theonlywayiswessex
Having finished a solid second over C&D four weeks ago, THEONLYWAYISWESSEX could well go one better off the same mark. Consistent Bentley’s Return, assuming he takes well to fences, is second choice. In-form mare Ede’iffs Rock looks likely to go well, while market support would heighten interest in ex-Irish Givehimthehonour.
13:20 – Fromheretoeternity
This can go to FROMHERETOETERNITY who holds leading claims back down in trip despite the big penalty. Korus (second choice), Birthday Angel, Master Dunraven and Confinentic look best of the remainder, tentatively preferred in that order
13:50 – Irish Chorus
With the new trip a possible source of improvement, IRISH CHORUS is taken to open her account. Baltray (second choice) is interesting back over hurdles, while Batwomen may progress further granted suitable ground, Macari warrants respect in his current form and Bertie B has solid claims.
14:20 – Jessie Lightfoot
A competitive little race. Preference is for JESSIE LIGHTFOOT who has done well since joining her current yard and if she runs to the same level as when third at Cheltenham last time then she must go close. Dour stayer Gold Clermont should be spot on after her recent run over hurdles and is the main danger ahead of Born At Midnight who ended last season well but may be better for this seasonal bow. Lady Balko can show improvement on this second start over fences now back over a staying trip.
14:55 – Sullivan Bay
Based on his AW Flat form since joining the Best stable, SULLIVAN BAY (nap) looks well handicapped back under this code. The selection may have more to offer in the retained visor and his strong claims are cemented by the booking of Harry Cobden. Ask Her Out, who finished runner-up the last twice, is a solid second choice. On bare figures, Scotch On Da Rocks looks the pick of the handicap newcomers.
15:30 – Baron Noir
Being the subject of reasonably positive words in a recent Stable Tour, ex-Irish BARON NOIR is taken to make a winning debut for Alan King. Kingston Queen is the biggest danger on bumper form, while point winner Tiptoptim and attractively bred newcomer One For Hadley are interesting types.
