12:20 – Horsesomeharry
HORSESOMEHARRY failed to make an impact in maiden hurdles but upped in trip and fitted with cheekpieces. He proved a different proposition to get off the mark on his handicap debut and reappearance here three weeks ago.
Horsesomeharry relished the extra distance and kept on well to open his account. With further progress on the cards, a 6 lb rise in the weights could underestimate him.
12:55 – Caldwell Potter
CALDWELL POTTER, a brother to Mighty Potter and half-brother to Brighterdaysahead, quickly developed into a smart novice hurdler last season and won a Grade 1 at Leopardstown’s Christmas meeting on his final start for Gordon Elliot.
Caldwell Potter, who was subsequently purchased for €740,000, a record for a jumps horse at public auction, has found a straightforward opportunity on his chasing debut and first start for Paul Nicholls. He should take this before competing at a higher level.
Figaroc showed some fairly useful form over fences for Willie Mullins and looks the one for the forecast spot on his first start for his new yard.
13:25 – Gamesters Guy
GAMESTERS GUY won two of his three starts in bumpers and came within a short head of making a successful start over hurdles at Bangor in October.
Sloppy jumps at the final two flights proved the difference between winning and losing, but Gamesters Guy is likely to benefit from the experience and can make amends here. Lieutenant Mayne, also a dual bumper winner, is the obvious danger, though he is penalised for his win in a maiden hurdle at Naas.
13:55 – Come On Teddy
Harry Derham has impressed with how well he has done with his recruits so COME ON TEDDY catches his eye on his first start for the yard.
Come on Teddy failed to win last season after returning from a long layoff, but he fell in the weights as a consequence and put in a much better effort on his return to chasing when a close-up third at Exeter on his final start of the campaign.
Come on Teddy should be suited by stepping back up in trip here and starts out for his new stable on a handy mark.
14:30 – To Chase A Dream
TO CHASE A DREAM signed off last season with a maiden hurdle win at Doncaster and he made a successful return on his handicap debut at this course in October, justifying good support in a race that looks likely to provide strong form.
To Chase A Dream has gone up 5 lb for that neck success, but the runner-up was five lengths clear of the third, who has won since. Leading jockey Brian Hughes, who was aboard for the first time at Carlisle, retains the ride, and there could be more to come from To Chase A Dream.
15:00 – Clovis Boy
CLOVIS BOY won a couple of times over hurdles last season, including on his final start of the campaign at Newcastle, where he did well to overhaul a couple of more prominently-ridden rivals in a falsely-run race, and he goes chasing with the Lucinda Russell yard among the winners.
Clovis Boy looks on a fair mark after going up 4 lb for his win at Newcastle in March, and he shapes as if he’ll be suited by this longer trip, so he could still have more to offer.
15:30 – Maximum Offers
Jamie Snowden has his team in superb order and has had a couple of bumper winners from his handful of representatives in that sphere in recent weeks, so MAXIMUM OFFERS, a six-figure purchase from the pointing ranks, gets the vote. Big Bert also starts out under Rules for a yard going well, and he is respected for James Owen.
