13:40 Southwell – The Blueberry One (Daily Mail)
Interesting to see what the market makes of THE BLUEBERRY ONE on his handicap debut back from a break as he showed definite promise in a Newbury novice and looks a likely type for this level over a trip that should suit on pedigree. The handicapper has had a few bites of the cherry with some of the others, with the unpenalised Solar System looking the main danger, ahead of Broughshane, Asian Star, Red Panda and Lexie’s Moon.
14:30 Sedgefield – Harper Valley (Telegraph)
Laser Focus has very suddenly returned to peak form this month and it will be interesting to see how well he copes with a mark that is effectively 20lb higher than for his two easy wins.
He can’t be opposed with any confidence but HARPER VALLEY seemed to respond positively to the addition of a visor at Kelso 17 days ago and is selected to win this race for the second time. Knacker Trapper is next on the list.
14:50 Tramore – Pipers Boreen (The Irish Sun)
Chasing newcomers Western Model and The Miracle Man have to be respected but it could be wise to side with those with chasing experience, PIPERS BOREEN being preferred to Jouster and New Barn Lane.
15:10 Southwell – Neigh Botha (The Guardian)
A few of these may show a bit more now switched to a handicap, including Runaway Train, No No Espresso and Three Zambezi’s. Early Morning Dew is interesting on his return to hurdles for the first time in three years, having won twice on the Flat since August, but the vote goes to the topweight NEIGH BOTHA.
Normally seen over fences these days, including a win here in June, he still retains some aptitude for hurdles and drops to this grade for the very first time.
