12:05 – TRIPOLI FLYER
TRIPOLI FLYER was most progressive in bumpers (shaped best when runner-up in Grade 2 at Aintree) and made a highly encouraging debut over hurdles after seven months off when beaten only by another decent prospect who had both a fitness and experience edge at Chepstow three weeks ago. Fergal O’Brien’s charge can land the odds en route to better things. Penalised winner Catchim and expensive point-recruit Queens Wish can battle for minor honours.
12:40 – RULER LEGEND
RULER LEGEND was a useful performer on the Flat when trained in Ireland and he opened his account for these connections on his handicap hurdle debut at Huntingdon in March earlier this year. He hasn’t progressed as expected since, but he seemingly failed to stay two and a half miles at Carlisle earlier this month, and will be much happier back down in trip. He’s potentially well handicapped and is preferred to Brave Jen, who finally opened her account at Sedgefield earlier in the month and is respected back in handicap company.
13:15 – CAMINO ROCIO
CAMINO ROCIO lost his way for Henrietta Knight earlier this year, but he dropped down the weights as a result, and has been rejuvenated by new connections, winning both of his starts over fences at Wincanton and Huntingdon. He was made to work hard last time and his jumping wasn’t as polished, but he appears to have been found a good opportunity here, and is taken to defy another 6 lb rise in the weights. Sadler’s Bay and Goguenard look the types to bounce back so are feared most.
13:50 – HARBOUR LAKE
HARBOUR LAKE was strong in the betting and recorded yet another win when fresh when successful on his return from six months off to record his first win in two years at Aintree 18 days ago, travelling smoothly throughout and finding plenty to see off the well-fancied favourite. He is 6 lb higher in the weights now but is capable of winning more races from this sort of mark. Dan Skelton’s handily-weighted West To The Bridge rates a big threat, though, while Skyjack Hijack, Supreme Gift and What A Johnny can all have a say too in this intriguing contest.
14:25 – FANTASTIC LADY
FANTASTIC LADY produced a career-best effort when winning the Oaksey Chase at Sandown in April and she can land this listed prize for a second time having been successful in the 2022 renewal, while her chances are strengthened further by the likely ground. Marsh Wren boasts a good record fresh and is feared most following her excellent first season over fences, while Apple Away could take a step forward from her recent run.
15:00 – PATS DREAM
PATS DREAM was quick to make his mark for his new yard at Ayr earlier this month, well found in the market and displaying a good attitude. He can make light of a 7 lb weights rise given he remains handily weighted on past exploits. Kim Bailey’s returning Percy Veering is another who figures on a good mark and merits plenty of respect on the back of another wind op, while Coolmoyne and Anytrixwilldo must enter calculations, too.
15:35 – GREAT FLEET
This could go to one of the Rules debutants, with GREAT FLEET making plenty of appeal having finished runner-up in an Irish point ahead of joining his leading trainer who has an excellent record in this sphere. He is preferred to newcomer Top Jimmy, who represents a yard who does well in bumpers, with Blue Bellamy the pick of those with previous experience in this sphere.
