12:35 – Northern Reel
NORTHERN REEL is an Irish point winner who is now going the right way for Olly Murphy, proving better than ever when opening her account in a handicap chase at Leicester last week, produced to lead between the last two fences and forging clear on the run-in.
Connections have wisely turned her out under a penalty, and she will be hard to beat with this step back up in trip no problem. Smurfette also comes here in great nick and appeals as the one to chase her home.
13:05 – Jasmin De Grugy
The ones with previous experience over fences don’t set an exacting standard, and JASMIN DE GRUGY looks a particularly interesting chase debutant.
He proved a different proposition once entering handicaps over hurdles earlier in the year, rattling off a quick-fire hat-trick in May and given he has a background in points, there’s no reason to think he won’t go on improving now sent chasing on his return from six months off.
Onewayortother is worth another chance to build on his promising chase bow at Warwick, so he is next best ahead of Great Samourai.
13:40 – Solar System
SOLAR SYSTEM resumed progressing with his usual hood removed at Warwick last week. He looked more straightforward under pressure and was well on top at the finish. He is hard to oppose, given he escapes a penalty for that conditional jockeys’ success.
Broughshane rates the main threat based on his very good Ffos Las second, with handicap-debutants Asian Star and The Blueberry One also worthy of consideration.
14:10 – Lawrenny
This doesn’t look like the strongest race of its type, and LAWRENNY, who progressed with each start in bumpers last season, is put forward as the selection on his hurdling debut.
When last seen in March, he showed fairly useful form when winning at Newcastle and is a likeable sort overall. His pedigree suggests he’ll progress again now sent jumping.
King Ulanda and Sergeant Fury are a couple of potential threats.
14:40 – Elle Est Beau
This represents a welcome drop in class for ELLE EST BEAU, who remains a maiden but has an attractive pedigree – out of an unraced but well-related mare, closely related to top-class chaser and Grand National winner Many Clouds.
She returns in a winnable event, and the pick of her form makes her the one to beat on her return, now fitted with first-time cheekpieces. She looks the answer at the chief expense of Well Done Dani and Rockola.
15:10 – Early Morning Dew
Given his solid form on the Flat this year, EARLY MORNING DEW is of strong interest. He returned to this sphere off what looks a very attractive mark.
He gets the nod, but several others could leave their previous form well behind now handicapping, not least Window of Time, who is second choice.
No No Espresso, Tarbaan, and Runaway Train fall into that category, too, while top-weight Neigh Botha also needs a mention.
15:40 – Lunar Contact
LUNAR CONTACT showed fair form without winning over hurdles for Alan King. He has looked very progressive, winning his last two starts over fences for this yard. He was well-backed and bolting up at Fakenham last week.
For that success, he escapes a penalty and a rise in the weights and is very hard to oppose from the same mark. Topkapi Star and Getaway With You look to be the chief threats.
