12:30 – Moutarde
MOUTARDE had offered encouragement when runner-up at Galway on his hurdling debut for Gavin Cromwell.
He ran to a similar level when fourth in a Grade 2 at Cheltenham nine days ago on his first start for Anthony Charlton.
Moutarde ran about as well as could have been expected in that company. He sets a good standard with his sights lowered, but he also remains capable of better in this sphere.
13:00 – Miami Magic
Point winner MIAMI MAGIC shaped with promise when he was only narrowly denied on his bumper debut for Dale Peters at Aintree in May. He impressed when making a successful start over hurdles for Stuart Edmunds at Fakenham last month.
It was encouraging that Miami Magic showed so much speed around Fakenham, easily drawing ten lengths clear, and he looks up to defying a penalty.
13:30 – Gidleigh Park
GIDLEIGH PARK was disappointing in the Albert Bartlett at the Cheltenham Festival on his final start of the season, but he pulled too hard on his first attempt at three miles and is better judged on his previous efforts.
Gidleigh Park, an easy winner on his only start in a bumper the previous season, won his first three outings over hurdles, including a Grade 2 at Cheltenham on Trials Day.
He has the physique of one who should take well to fences and is an exciting recruit to the novice chase division.
14:00 – Craven Bay
CRAVEN BAY won his first two starts after joining Toby Lawes (previously with Lawney Hill), and he was only narrowly denied the hat-trick at Fontwell last time when pulling clear of the third.
Craven Bay left the impression he should have won at Fontwell. He briefly went clear after jumping on at the last but idled and was collared on the line.
He’s going the right way for this yard and still looks fairly treated following a 4 lb rise in the weights.
14:35 – Kateira
KATEIRA suffered an odds-on defeat at Wetherby on her return a few weeks ago, but having travelled best, she may have won had she not made a bad mistake at the second last when attempting to close.
She has been found an excellent opportunity to return to winning ways and should prove a class apart from her rivals. Della Casa Lunga, a dual winner in handicap company at Ludlow last season, probably needed the run when only sixth on her return at Bangor 12 days ago.
She can step forward on that to fill the forecast spot.
15:10 – Doddiethegreat
DODDIETHEGREAT is the only one without chasing experience, but he looks fairly treated and, as a rangy sort, could have more to offer now that he is tackling fences.
Doddiethegreat’s campaign ended on a disappointing note.
But, he’d won an introductory hurdle on his return from two years off at Ascot in November.
Then he finished in the frame in competitive handicaps at Cheltenham and Newbury, notably finishing fourth in the Betfair Hurdle.
He has a good record when fresh and makes the most appeal.
15:45 – Non Stop
NON STOP failed to score over fences last season but made a winning return over hurdles at Plumpton three weeks ago, taking his record in this sphere to three wins from six starts.
The Joe Tizzard stable remains in excellent order, and Non Stop likely gives another good account of himself following a 5 lb rise in the weights.
