Willie Mullins saddles Argento Boy and I’m a big fan of his. He’ll improve and we didn’t see the best of him at Cheltenham in the Champion Bumper. He was sixth in the bumper at Punchestown and the 2m 6f trip will be perfect for him in this maiden hurdle. He should excel over hurdles this season.
12:40 Riviere D’etel
Gordon Elliott’s Riviere D’etel is the one they’ll all have to beat. Risk Belle has been disappointing and so has Lot Of Joy, ultimately. If Riviere D’etel puts her best foot forward, she’s the best filly in the race.
13:50 Fascile Mode or Jordans
The Galway Hurdle winner Nurburgring was well beaten in Navan on chase debut last weekend and may come on for that. I wasn’t blown away by Farren Glory at Naas either even though he won. If there isn’t too much rain, Fascile Mode could improve after jumping brilliantly at Punchestown last month. If there is plenty of rain, I’ll keep French runner Jordans on side.
14:25 Fastorslow
The John Durkan Chase looks a cracking contest with at least three live Cheltenham Gold Cup hopes set to oppose each other Dual Blue Riband winner Galopin Des Champs will be ridden up with the pace. Fastorslow who has beaten Galopin Des Champs a couple of times at this track, is a faster jumper than Galopin Des Champs and is probably better suited to this 2m 3f trip. Fact To File was brilliant last year as a novice and he didn’t do much wrong. However, he did need a run before his season ignited. All things considered, Fastorslow is probably the most reliable contender on Sunday afternoon.
15:32 Soir De Garde
Willie Mullins introduces Soir De Garde in the bumper. He was supposed to run at the Punchestown Festival but didn’t and he goes well at home. He’s a fair type.
