13:15 Haydock – Josh The Boss

I really like Josh The Boss. He’s a good thing and he beat Doyen Quest last time out at Chepstow. That form has been boosted by him winning at Cheltenham last week. It won’t matter how much rain falls and he could be a value pick.

7/2
Josh The Boss Win or Each Way

13:30 Ascot – Pic DOrhy

Pic DOrhy is very short in the market but it’s hard to look past him. He’s had a wind op and he doesn’t mind the ground. He’ll be hard to beat but I’m not sure he’ll have it all his own way. Dashel Drasher could push him but Pic DOrhy has the edge over this 2m 5f trip.

1/3
Pic DOrhy Win or Each Way

13:50 Haydock – Iroko

Iroko sets a pretty good standard in here and he’s the one to be with. I’m a little concerned that he might not be fully wound up for this but he’s the best horse in the race.

13/8
Iroko Win or Each Way

14:10 Punchestown – Lossiemouth

Willie Mullins has State Man and Lossiemouth in here and he usually uses this race to kickstart his season. I have a sneaky suspicion that Lossiemouth might win this argument. She’s got a lot of speed and the race might be run to suit her. She could catch State Man napping.

11/4
Lossiemouth Win or Each Way

14:30 Haydock – Doyen Quest

Doyen Quest was such an easy winner at Cheltenham last week and he will likely be hard to beat once again. He’s rated 135 officially so he’s 5lbs well in with the 5lb penalty. All of the other runners have risen in the weights.

3/1
Doyen Quest Win or Each Way

14:45 Ascot – Lucky Place

Golden Ace gets plenty of weight from Blueking Doroux but I have a few concerns about her. It’s her first run of the season and Jeremy Scott has said she’s had a few little niggles. Lucky Place is a really interesting runner. He’s a good horse and he finished fourth in the Coral Cup last year. He’ll handle conditions and he’s one to follow this season. It wouldn’t surprise me to see him win a big race.

5/1
Lucky Place Win or Each Way

15:05 Haydock – Grey Dawning

What a race this is. If Ahoy Senor can jump like he did last year at Aintree then he can’t be ruled out. I love horses that have history at Haydock and Royale Pagaille has that. He probably sets the standard and it’s hard to ignore his record at the track but I’ll side with Grey Dawning for the Skelton’s.

5/2
Grey Dawning Win or Each Way

15:20 Ascot – Kotmask

I like Kotmask for Gary and Josh Moore. The more rain that comes, the better his chances. He probably wants a little more than two miles. The only issue is his jumping sometimes lets him down. Sans Bruit is a big danger and he sets the standard but Kotmask is the one, especially if the rain comes.

6/1
Kotmask Win or Each Way

15:40 Haydock – Hititi

It could be a bit of a slog for the last race at Haydock so bear that in mind. I’m happy to go with Hititi for Robert Walford with Brian Hughes on board. He won’t mind the ground conditions and he ran well over fences at Chepstow recently. That ground probably wasn’t soft enough for him. He’s unexposed over fences and he’s a generous price.

5/2
Hititi Win or Each Way
