RAINWATER stepped up in distance and got that elusive first victory on the board at Wolverhampton, and the slight step up in distance here should bring some more of his untapped stamina potential into play. He’s only been given a 5lb nudge by the assessor.

ZIP did really well to keep on going at Doncaster as he was set alight a long way from home and went well clear for a 3/4 of a length victory despite getting very tired later on. Up the steady climb here at this venue he will be able to increase things up on the front end.
16:55 Wolverhampton – Toophan (each-way)
TOOPHAN starts out for another new stable this evening and is some 13lb lower than his original opening handicap mark. He ran well at this particular venue over slightly further distance suggesting that he has the required ability to visit the winner’s enclosure. David Probert is an excellent jockey booking.
18:55 Wolverhampton – Alzahir
ALZAHIR hasn’t been with this team that long, and already they have unlocked some of his talent that he has been keeping back for himself. A mark of 87 underestimates his ability and I quite like his lightly-raced profile on a synthetic; added to that Billy the Kid (Billy Loughnane) has been booked to do the steering.
19:25 Wolverhampton – Diomed Spirit
DIOMED SPIRIT is not as good on the turf as on the all-weather, and his record is an impressive 50% on the artificial surface. He can’t manage to win from a rating fully 23lbs lighter on the turf, yet he’s a rocket around here. He’s also won off a little absence previously, so he looks prepped for a big run after 67 days away.
20:25 Wolverhampton – Westridge
WESTRIDGE still has a massive amount of untapped potential having broken his duck in pretty gutsy fashion at Windsor and then didn’t get to see much daylight at Goodwood when we last saw him. He was gelded for his intended start at Chelmsford and was quietly fancied in the market, but that obviously ended up being a voided race.
