This is highly likely to be run at a good clip and that should suit DEMBE, who readily swept past all eight of his rivals in the straight over C&D two runs ago.
Mbappe should also come onto the scene late but the biggest threat may come from Ureshii or Thorntonledale Max. Ureshii is open to more improvement so he is nominated as the main danger.
17:00 Spirit Lead Me
None of the five can be confidently ruled out. Soft ground probably explains Wild Nature’s heavy defeat on last month’s nursery debut, and he can bounce back, but the selection is SPIRIT LEAD ME.
The way he was coming back at the line over 7f here a fortnight ago suggests his revised mark can be defied over today’s longer trip of 1m. Two of the other three are starting out in Britain for new yards so a market check is needed.
17:30 Victorious Street
A cracking handicap for a midweek evening. Fantastic Fox, Final Voyage, Tempus, and Longlai looks like the pick of the older horses, but this looks ripe for a 3yo to win. Roi De France and Harvard Sound (second choice) are high on the list, but VICTORIOUS STREET makes plenty of appeal back on AW.
His standout effort came on his one AW run, and given his US pedigree, it could be that he’s going to be happiest on this surface. The form of that Southwell win looks strong, and he can make it 2-2 on artificial surfaces.
18:00 Brave Byreflection
This looks a good opportunity for BRAVE BYREFLECTION to go one better than on debut at Ripon in August. Ottawa (second choice) and Al Baarez are open to improvement. Previous winner Mini Mac needs to bounce back from a poor showing in nursery company.
18:30 Impulse Buy
Best Of All isn’t bred to sprint, but she’s a well-connected newcomer who represents a powerful yard and makes her debut in a weak race so she has to come into the reckoning.
Something Splendid drops in trip but has shown promise in two AW runs, while War Supremo is sure to leave his debut effort behind him at some stage. IMPULSE BUY ran well at Southwell on last week’s debut though and he can put that experience to good use.
19:00 Bridgets View
Several newcomers of interest, notably Teroomm (second choice), Triple Double A and Uncle Simon, but BRIDGETS VIEW sets a useful standard and still has the prospect of further progress.
19:30 Berkshire Sundance (NAP)
This is a significant rise in grade for BERKSHIRE SUNDANCE (NAP) but the horses he beat in Class 4 company the last twice give his form a solid look. Fellow hat-trick seeker Cool Party may again get the better of Duke Of Oxford given the latter is most effective off a strong pace.
20:00 Blessed Honour
Ralph Beckett’s pair Power Of Destiny (new recruit) and Silent Glance (2-2 on AW) are of interest, and perhaps the betting will reveal which one warrants a saver, but maybe BLESSED HONOUR will appreciate returning to a quicker surface and be the answer.
20:30 The Spotlight Kid
Unless the market speaks favourably about handicap debutante Doctor Awtaad, this looks best left to Dean Ivory’s last-time-out course winners Adace and THE SPOTLIGHT KID. The selection had fallen a fair way in the weights so may be better equipped to cope with a rise.
