13.45 Cheltenham – Guard Your Dreams (each-way)

ITV Racing is back for the third day on the trot with racing from Cheltenham and Fontwell, where I will be for Attheraces, starting here with a limited novices’ handicap chase over 2m4f. Peaky Boy beat Leader in the Park easily last season, and while the latter is better off at the weights, I would expect the same result.

I’m happy to take both on as they make their seasonal debuts and will chance GUARD YOUR DREAMS each-way for Sam Twiston-Davies and his old man Nigel. A mark of 136 is tough for this horse, but he stays well, is fit, and wasn’t disgraced when fourth to Lisnamult Lad at this track last time.

14.05 Fontwell – Musical Slave

ITV show one from Fontwell in the Southern National Handicap Chase over an extended 3m3f. I’ll be at Fontwell for this and I can’t wait.

MUSICAL SLAVE stays forever and is on a great mark, so even at the age of 11, he is surely the one to beat for Micheal Nolan and the Hobbs team. A winner last time off 111, he’s up to 114 here but once traded on a rating of 137. He won’t get back to that, but this is very winnable.

14.20 Cheltenham – Matata

A handicap chase over 2m. Not my favourite four horses of all time I must admit.

MATATA is probably the most talented and might be another for Sam Twiston-Davies and dad Nigel. The six-year-old is a bit crazy, but ran all right here last time in a handicap chase that went to Calico. There is not much between them at the weights again, but Matata might strip fitter of the two for that clash.

14.55 Cheltenham – Does He Know

A handicap chase over an extended 3m3f. DOES HE KNOW won this off a mark of 152 in 2022, and he’s down to 150 here on the back of a respectable fourth here last time.

Tom Bellamy led that day, but he can go from the front or off the pace, and on a going day, which is not always the case, I’d suspect he would be too good for this field. Stays very well and goes for Kim Bailey.

15.30 Cheltenham – Go Dante (each-way)

The big betting race of the day in the Greatwood Handicap Hurdle over an extended 2m. Many think Dysart Enos is the best-handicapped hurdler in Britain; here we’ll find out. They may well be right.

I’m happy to go each-way with GO DANTE, who is thoroughly exposed but decent in these kinds of events. A terrific third at Newbury last season, he went on to score in the Imperial Cup at Sandown and was a fine fifth up at Aintree. A mark of 134 is tough, but he should give us a chance of a place at least for Sean Bowen and Olly Murphy.

So best of luck, and pray for Yeeehaaas. You hear me Paddy?
