12:20 Spirit of Kinsale
SPIRIT OF KINSALE, a €115,000 purchase as a three-year-old, is a half-brother to Welsh Grand National winner The Two Amigos and starts out for Olly Murphy with the yard in flying form. He gets the vote over Typhoon Flyer, who was placed on all three starts in bumpers and shaped well when third on his hurdling debut at Ffos Las in May.
Typhoon Flyer was below form when beaten a long way on his reappearance at Worcester in September but is respected on his previous efforts.
12:55 Rula Bula
RULA BULA was a decisive winner of a bumper at Warwick last year and ran well when runner-up in a listed bumper at Sandown on her final start of the campaign, making the favourite work hard for victory.
She looks the part for jumping, returns with the O’Neill stable among the winners with its hurdling debutants and she’s been found a nice opening. Natus Vincere was a decisive winner of her only start in an Irish point in May so she’s an interesting prospect under Rules and can give the selection most to do.
13:30 Kelce
KELCE showed only modest form over hurdles but has proved a different proposition since going chasing and has run well to finish runner-up on both outings over fences. Kelce jumped well and launched a bold bid from the front on both occasions but was collared on the run-in. He was a long way clear of the third at Hexham last week and still looks fairly treated after edging up 3lb in the weights.
14:05 Eyed
EYED ran creditably when runner-up at Wincanton last month on his first start for Hughie Morrison (previously with Paul Webber) and that effort looks better now as the winner has since followed up off a 7lb higher mark. Eyed, who had undergone a breathing operation prior to his return, is able to run off the same mark as at Wincanton and could still do a bit better for this yard.
14:40 Bread And Butter
BREAD AND BUTTER finally cashed in on his falling mark at Hereford last week, registering a first win in more than four years. Bread And Butter, who had been given a breathing operation prior to his return, won with something to spare and escapes a penalty for that success in a handicap for conditional or amateur riders. He can follow up off the same mark here.
15:15 Happy Index
HAPPY INDEX shaped with encouragement when runner-up on her first start for Olly Murphy (previously with Paul Webber) at Fontwell in September and she built on that to score at Perth later in the month.
Happy Index, who was fitted with cheekpieces and had Sean Bowen taking over in the saddle, was driven six lengths clear of a stable-switcher, Superbolt, who has run well to also finish runner-up on his two subsequent starts. Happy Index has a 9lb rise in the weights to cope with but she could still do better for this stable.
