12:20 Laser Focus
LASER FOCUS is still searching for a first win over hurdles, but he enjoyed a productive time on the Flat this year, winning three times. His Flat form suggests that he should be up to winning a race off his hurdles mark, and he’s worth another chance having unseated on the bend early on at Fakenham a couple of weeks ago.
12:50 Global Esteem
GLOBAL ESTEEM was in good heart during the summer and won a Flat handicap at Sandown and a novice hurdle at Market Rasen in August. He’s not been disgraced in his two subsequent starts, finishing fifth in a Flat handicap at Sandown and third in a handicap hurdle at Ludlow, and he looks set to launch a bold bid in this lower grade.
13:25 Special Acceptance
SPECIAL ACCEPTANCE is on a losing run that stretches back to December 2020, but he has produced some credible efforts in defeat, finishing runner-up on three of his six starts for Paul Webber last season.
He ran well on his first start for Billy Aprahamian when runner-up at Uttoxeter last month, for all he was outbattled once getting to the winner’s quarters, and he looks fairly treated off the same mark here. This looks like a good opportunity to register an overdue success.
14:00 Leloopa
This should be straightforward for Irish recruit Leloopa, who got off the mark at Hereford last month on her third start for Fergal O’Brien.
That wasn’t a strong race that LELOOPA won, but she did so with a bit in hand and has been found an even weaker contest here, so should prove difficult to beat under a penalty. Nobody’s Perfect has shown little in two starts over hurdles but managed to hit the frame twice in bumpers, so could be the one to chase the selection home.
14:35 Camino Rocio
CAMINO ROCIO was well backed on his first start for Jim and Suzi Best (previously with Henrietta Knight), and he rewarded that support with a decisive three-and-three-quarter-length success at Wincanton last month.
Camino Rocio, fitted with a visor in place of the usual cheekpieces, jumped well and travelled with zest under an attacking ride, finding plenty to assert. A 7lb rise in the weights looks fair, and he could prove a tough nut to crack if in the same form.
15:10 Norman Fletcher
NORMAN FLETCHER, a maiden and novice hurdle winner last season, ran up to his best when runner-up under this rider in a conditional jockeys’ handicap hurdle on his return at Cheltenham last month, staying on well to get to within three-quarters of a length of Irish raider Impero.
This race isn’t as strong or competitive so Norman Fletcher has a good chance of going one better. Black Hawk Eagle was third in the Welsh Champion Hurdle on his return last month and is the main danger.
15:45 Lady Tadita
Jamie Snowden has his team in good order and has an interesting representative here in LADY TADITA. Lady Tadita is by 2012 Grand Prix de Paris winner Masterstroke and out-of-bumper winner Fabrika and should be sharp enough to cope with this kind of test. Noble Miss, a winner over course and distance on debut last month, is entitled to plenty of respect and is an obvious danger.
