11:10 – Bel Amigo

BEL AMIGO was a fairly useful maiden hurdler in France and reached a similar level over fences, winning a two and a half mile claiming chase on his final start at Compiegne in March. He’s since changed hands for €24,600 and sets a healthy standard on form now making his British debut back over hurdles. Dedicated Hero is an interesting rival, given he’s a dual bumper winner at this track, and rates the main threat ahead of Tommys Law.

11:38 – Gold Des Bois

GOLD DES BOIS hasn’t won for over two years, but he’s fallen an awful lot in the weights since that time, and he left the impression he’s up to winning more races from his current mark as runner-up over this course and distance on his first start for Sandy Thomson a fortnight ago. He stayed on into second place behind a solid yardstick on that occasion and, in a race which hasn’t got as much depth, he’s expected to take another step forward and go one place better. Fia Fuinidh ran well on reappearance at Carlisle last month and is feared most.

12:07 – Luckie Seven

LUCKIE SEVEN was progressive in bumpers last season, and he’s made a good start over hurdles, too, winning both starts at up to two and a half miles at Perth. He stepped up appreciably on the bare form of his debut in this sphere, dropped to two miles last time, doing well to do so after being headed on the run-in when idling but fighting back at the finish. There should be plenty more to come from him now sent handicapping, particularly back up in trip, and he’s expected to prove the opening mark of 115 is a lenient one. The Navigator has thrived lately and should be in the mix, along with Forged Well, now back at two and a half miles.

12:42 – Choose A Copper

The vote goes to unexposed six-year-old CHOOSE A COPPER, who made the perfect start to his chase career at Hexham last month where, barring a scare at the first fence, he put in a good round of jumping. There should be more to come from Lucinda Russell’s charge in this sphere and he’s taken to make light of a subsequent 4 lb rise in the weights. Breakdance Kid is just about second choice ahead of Five Dollar Fine and Half Shot.

13:15 – Marty McFly

MARTY MCLFY showed more than he had previously on his first start for Sandy Thomson, hitting the frame in a novices’ handicap hurdle at Bangor in May, and he built on that promise opening his account in a similar event at Perth three weeks later. He did so comfortably on that occasion, and he may yet have more to offer for this yard, still relatively lightly-raced. Starlyte enters the reckoning on her runner-up effort over C&D recently, with her mark unchanged, while the market will help assess the returning Gonfalonier from a long time off the track.

13:52 – Beyond The Verge

Now interesting newcomer Kefir d’Oudairies is a non-runner, BEYOND THE VERGE looks the likeliest winner. He caused a bit of a surprise when overcoming inexperience – both beforehand, when noisy in the paddock, and during – to make a winning start over course and distance in September, and with improvement likely, he may defy a penalty in this field. Humble Jumble is another to be interested in first-time out.
