13:30 Aintree – Harbour Lake

A 3m Pertemps Handicap Hurdle qualifier where HARBOUR LAKE reverts to hurdling after a stalled chasing career. If you look at some of his back form, he doesn’t appear to be badly handicapped, and was also a first-time-out winner in 2022. The ground won’t be a problem and he can get back to winning ways.

4/1
Harbour Lake Win or Each Way

13:45 Wincanton – Good Look Charm (Each-Way)

The 2m 5f mares’ handicap hurdle can see GOOD LOOK CHARM go close to following up her win here 12 months ago. One of her mentors was Richard Barber and this race is named in his honour. She’s 8lb higher than last year’s winning mark but will likely have been targeted at this race again.

17/2
Good Look Charm Win or Each Way

14:05 Aintree – Imperial Saint

IMPERIAL SAINT was a little lucky to win last time but deserves to head the market on balance. He should come on from that debut win over fences and will handle the ground and the track.

15/8
Imperial Saint Win or Each Way

14:40 Aintree – Idalko Bihoue (Each-Way)

The 2m 5f Grand Sefton Chase is run over the Grand National fences and not everyone is suited by it. IDALKO BIHOUE looks an each-way player for Nigel Twiston-Davies. He’s a lightly-raced six-year-old and looks good value in the prices. Some of his best form is really strong – having won over 2m 4f at Cheltenham on decent ground.

15/2
Idalko Bihoue Win or Each Way

14:55 Wincanton – Rubaud

RUBAUD is such a specialist on these tight right-handed tracks that it’s hard to dismiss him – even though he has a penalty to carry against his two rivals, Aspire Tower and Brentford Hope.  He made all to win this last season and I expect him to do the same again.

1/1
Rubaud Win or Each Way

15:30 Wincanton – The Changing Man

Al Dancer heads the weights and could run a big race especially having won first time out last season. However, I’ll take a punt on THE CHANGING MAN for Joe Tizzard who ran in some decent Novice races at the start of last season. He’s had a wind operation and first time out might be the time to catch him.

3/1
The Changing Man Win or Each Way
