13:09 Wincanton – Killer Kane

It’s a marathon of races on ITV Saturday with action coming at you every second from Wincanton, Aintree and Doncaster. It gets under way here with a conditional jockeys’ handicap chase over 2m 4f. A small field and all of them have a chance to be honest. Some of these are up in the handicap, but the one who is on the way down is KILLER KANE, and he might have a bit more stamina than one or two of his rivals. Now down to a mark of 122, and with Callum Pritchard taking off 5lb, he was a fair third over 3m at Kempton when last seen and there should be some pace to sit behind here and run at late. He was once rated 132 for Joe Tizzard, so is on a good mark.

Killer Kane Win or Each Way

13:20 Doncaster – Zoum Zoum

Flat racing on ITV starts with a Listed contest over 6f. ZOUM ZOUM did this column a favour last time, and while he has a few pounds to find with Room Service, I think he might be able to do it. Room Service will probably have to try and close in on Zoum Zoum and my selection is a strong stayer at this trip on soft ground. If he gets first run he’ll be hard to pass for Rob Horny and the sparkling Ralph Beckett.

Zoum Zoum Win or Each Way

13:30 Aintree – Bold Endeavour (Each-Way)

ITV coverage at Aintree starts with this Pertemps qualifier handicap hurdle over an extended 3m. BOLD ENDEAVOUR (Each-Way) is high in the handicap, but was once really consistent for Nicky Henderson, and now has a go for Luca Morgan having been well down the field for his previous yard when last seen at Haydock. I suspect he’s got an eachway chance here off 141 under Adam Wedge if he’s fit for the return to action. Ran well enough here in April off 144.

Bold Endeavour Win or Each Way

13:45 Wincanton – Larchmont Lass (Each-Way)

Now a mares’ handicap hurdle over an extended 2m 5f. Wide open. Stamina is the worry for LARCHMONT LASS (Each-Way), but she should get a good pace to run at, as Pretending likes to lead and with a big field there should be some pace pressure. The Paul Nicholls-trained runner was a fine fourth at Newbury last season, behind All The Glory, and is much better off at the weights on this occasion than that old rival. I expect her to be held up out the back and hopefully come through for a place at least. An eachway selection in a tight track which suits.

Larchmont Lass Win or Each Way

14:05 Aintree – Hunter Legend

A handicap chase over 2m. HUNTER LEGEND stays well and was in great form when last seen for Venetia Williams rattling off two wins at Lingfield and Bangor-on-Dee. Those came off marks of 102 and 105, and he’s up to 111 for the return, which will be tougher. But he’s clearly improving and jumps well. Charlie Deutsch is on top.

Hunter Legend Win or Each Way

14:23 Wincanton – Soul Icon

Up in class for the Grade 2 Rising Stars Novices’ Chase over 2m 4f. If there’s a class act in here then it’s likely to be Handstands who blew out behind Ballyburn in the Gallagher at the Cheltenham Festival. That said, he will have to be better over fences than he was over hurdles to beat SOUL ICON, who has loads of chasing experience. So I’ll chance the Kieran Burke runner under the excellent Tom Bellamy. The Pair may try and lead and ran a fine second to Sure Touch in a handicap chase at Market Rasen when last seen.

15/4
Soul Icon Win or Each Way

14:40 Aintree – Percussion (Each-Way)

Over the National fences for the Grand Sefton Handicap Chase over 2m 5f. PERCUSSION (Each-Way) doesn’t win as many as you would like, but he was a fine second in this last year off a mark of 128 and is only 1lb higher on this occasion. Is another for the Luca Morgan stable with Adam Wedge on board, but we just have to hope my charge is fit, as he’s been off the track for 132 days since a second at Uttoxeter in the Summer Cup. Should have a great eachway chance.

6/1
Percussion Win or Each Way

14:55 Wincanton – Brentford Hope

Another Grade 2 in the Elite Hurdle over 1m 7f. No Champion Hurdle hopes here. Getting 6lb I see no reason why BRENTFORD HOPE can’t pick off Rubaud for Paul O’Brien and Harry Derham. My selection has been off the track 193 days, while Rubaud is race fit, but I would think Brentford Hope is not a hard horse to get ready and his win at Haydock last season was impressive as was his second at Punchestown. This is a big chance to win a decent pot.

6/4
Brentford Hope Win or Each Way

15:10 Doncaster – Danielle

Another Listed event this time for fillies over 1m 2f. A decent field here and one or two lurkers who could improve like Estrange. That said, DANIELLE should take all the beating for Kieran Shoemark and John & Thady Gosden. Juice in the ground is what this daughter of Cracksman needs, and on heavy last time, she was back to form with a second to Max Vega at Newbury. Down in trip she can be ridden from the front, and let’s not forget she ran in the Ribblesdale (Diamond Rain last but seemingly much better than that),  just three runs ago, two places behind Irish Oaks winner You Got To Me. Hard to beat.

7/4
Danielle Win or Each Way

15:30 Wincanton – Lord Accord

The Badger Beer Handicap Chase over 3m 1f. It will be hard for LORD ACCORD to make all here, as he has done in his last two starts over hurdles and the bigger obstacles, but he has to be the selection. A mark of 128 after two wins gives Lord Accord every chance, as he was second to Frodon in this race in 2022, off a mark of 136. He doesn’t have to lead at all and is clearly in fine shape for Neil Mulholland and Richie McLernon. Must have every chance of getting up the hat-trick.

7/2
Lord Accord Win or Each Way

15:45 Doncaster – Chillingham (Each-Way)

A big betting race in the November Handicap over 1m 4f. CHILLINGHAM (Each-Way) might just surprise a few here at long odds for Ed Bethell and Callum Rodriguez. The five-year-old was back to form last time when chasing home Not So Sleepy at Newbury in deep ground over a bit further. He seemed happier back down in distance that day, after a no show in the Ebor, and this trip with a reasonable pace might be just what he wants. I’ll have a few quid on eachway.

So best of luck and pray for Yeeehaaas. You hear me Paddy?
