Horse Racing Tips: Fran Berry’s Friday night fancies at Dundalk

Fran had three winners at Dundalk last week and while Beatrix Power is his nap in the opener, he also has an each-way treble to conclude the card.

17:00 – Beatrix Power (NAP)

Beatrix Power finished second behind White Clover at Navan last month. She ran a good race there and while she was an odds-on loser, I’m giving her another chance. The key to her coming good could be the all-weather surface. Her pedigree suggests she should be far better on the all-weather track. Going round a bend should suit her as well. She’s going to be hard to beat.

17:30 – Glyde Ranger

I like Glyde Ranger, who won at Dundalk last month. He missed the start by a couple of seconds but still won and although he’s gone up 9lbs to a rating of 63, it still might not be enough to stop him from winning again. Rockview Consort is worth keeping an eye on, especially if the market moves in her favour.

18:00 – Chocalho

Joseph O’Brien has four runners in here and most of them are unexposed. I’m with Chocalho, who finished fourth behind Greatest Drama last time at Gowran Park and that form is pretty strong. It was a great effort to finish fourth considering the race didn’t quite go to plan for her. With that run, she’s the one to beat.

Chocalho Win or Each Way

18:30 – Sakti

Ger Lyons has four runners but this is a pretty open race. Sakti is a very likeable filly and she ran a really good race behind the eventual winner Azada. She gave a good fight for a long way but just struggled at the end to finish second. That form is strong and the best and most consistent form in the race. Quadruple is the next best of the Lyons quartet.

Sakti Win or Each Way

19:00 – Fivefortwo

I’m happy to take on Truth Be Told and Fivefortwo has the best line of recent form. Colin Keane takes the ride and he shaped better than the result when third at Listowel in September. He ran at Dundalk last month so he’s got the benefit of a run on the all-weather track and that should make him the one to beat.

Fivefortwo Win or Each Way

19:30 – Black Storm

Black Storm is interesting. He won at Dundalk in October over 7f and he’s now rated 79 for his handicap debut. The form of his last win has held up and he could be open to plenty of improvement. He’s three years old and he’s stepping back up to a mile. I’m sticking with the younger legs.

7/2
Black Storm Win or Each Way

20:00 – Hurricane Helen

Hurricane Helen is a dual course winner over this distance and Colin Keane knows her really well. She showed a turn of foot when winning at Cork in August. Her best form has come on the polytrack and her third at Dundalk in September was a good run. Dropping back in trip to a mile should set the race up perfectly for her.

2/1
Hurricane Helen Win or Each Way

20:30 – Ragtime Milly (each-way)

We haven’t seen the best of Ragtime Milly yet, who is switching to the all-weather track. Yvonne Latta’s runner shaped with promise at Dundalk last December and she ran well at Gowran Park when finishing fourth in September. She shaped like a future winner then and she should enjoy returning to the surface. The inside draw should help her too.
