16:55 – Eva Dickson
Bouvier and Make Love have the best form and it will be no surprise if either were to get off the mark in this weak race, but they’re both five-race maidens and preference is for EVA DICKSON, who was a pretty encouraging fourth on last month’s debut at Southwell. The newcomers are worth a market check, but Bouvier is feared most.
17:30 – Guiteau
Amaysmont, who’s 3-5 round here and arrives in good form, and five-time course winner Thomas Equinas both have claims, but this can go to GUITEAU, who’s on a handy mark and has a better chance of getting his own way in front back into a smaller field. Lady Wingalong will need to settle better off this mark.
18:00 – Capricorn King
A line-up with a collective record of 0-45 but still plenty of grounds for optimism, with at least half the field possible improvers over 1m2f. Pine Cliffs and Freak Encounter (next best) appeal the most of these, but overall preference goes to CAPRICORN KING, assuming he settles better than when nevertheless not disgraced on one previous foray over this trip. He certainly ought not fail for stamina, and the Quinn yard is going well.
18:30 – Aegean Prince
Charlie Appleby has enjoyed another strong autumn with his 2yos and this looks a good opportunity for the beautifully bred AEGEAN PRINCE to burnish that record yet further. Protectionist’s half-brother Kentucky River and Ammes are preferred of the remaining newcomers in that order, whilst Mersea Island ought to prove better over 1m2f than the soft ground allowed him to show last time.
19:00 – Arenas Del Tiempo
Having rarely dipped below 1m2f since handicapping, the easy 1m here was always liable to prove a bare minimum for ARENAS DEL TIEMPO last Thursday but that was still more like it in a first-time visor. She can break a long losing run at the main expense of recent C&D second Switchel.
19:30 – Twilight Fun
Only six runners but a good burn-up looks on the cards, with serial hard-puller TWILIGHT FUN, whose latest win here has worked out well since, unlikely to have an issue with the return to 5f. Papa Don’t Preach, who also saw off two subsequent winners when going in over C&D last month, is second choice.
20:00 – Princess Shabnam
This is likely all about whether Maid In Chelsea can see out the sixth furlong better now than on her debut, as she’s on a generous-looking mark. Should she fail, any of a number of experienced campaigners down in class and/or well handicapped are capable of capitalising, with PRINCESS SHABNAM’s good showing in a C&D 0-80 last month earning her the vote. Monsieur Kodi has done better than the bare facts indicate the last twice and is next on the list.
20:30 – Expensive Queen
3yos have made up less than 50% of the runners in previous stagings of this and accounted for all four winners, including two at double-figure prices, and EXPENSIVE QUEEN (nap) can extend the sequence for a yard in good form. Hat Toss looked a bit unlucky back on the AW last time and is the pick of the older brigade, narrowly ahead of Pjanoo, who goes well fresh.
