12:35 – Royal Duke
ROYAL DUKE had an excuse when a beaten favourite over this course and distance last month, paying the price late on for making a big move into contention out wide two furlongs out, and is given another chance to show his mark is workable.
Fellow three-year-old Profiteer has come good this autumn and is feared most despite this being a different test to the one he’s encountered at Pontefract the last twice. Thunderstorm Katie is also shortlisted after her promising first run for Jim Goldie.
13:05 – Master Technician
MASTER TECHNICIAN has improved with each start so far, while he also holds the best form on offer, and with further progress likely, he looks the way to go in this open maiden.
Tattie Bogle heads the list of dangers on the back of her promising debut Southwell second with Dandy Magic, Storm The Dug and Emery Down, all worthy of consideration.
13:35 – Shimmering Sands
SHIMMERING SANDS hasn’t won for over a year, but he has been holding his form well of late, beaten only by an improving three-year-old at Southwell 16 days ago.
He started a big price that day, but if he produces a similar effort in this handicap, which is weaker, he will surely close off the same mark. Code Purple’s good record here makes him an obvious danger. Beltane is next on the list.
14:05 – Silent Move
The form of the race SILENT MOVE won at Haydock in May worked out well, and it’s not too hard to forgive her lesser run in the traditionally strong Silver Bowl there since.
She can bounce back after a break and prove herself still on a good mark, perhaps at the main expense of stablemate Quiet Resolve, who is potentially well-treated and has an apprentice taking 7 lb off.
14:35 – Roman Harry
A few with chances, but ROMAN HARRY rates just the pick of these weights, so is taken to make a winning start for Iain Jardine, who does well with new recruits. Redcar scorer Darbucks heads the list of dangers, although John L Sullivan, Giselles Izzy and Black Friday need factoring in, too.
15:10 – Savrola
SAVROLA came from further back than the other principals when fourth over a mile and a quarter at Ayr last time. So he can be marked up for that effort and given he’s slipped in the weights since his last win, he is taken to build on that promising effort now stepping back up in trip.
Tilsitt was narrowly in front of the selection on that occasion, and he could give him the most to do ahead of Spanish Hustle.
15:42 – Reel Her In
A case can be made for a few of these, but it’s still very hard to ignore the claims of hat-trick-seeking REEL HER IN, who has shown improved form upon joining Ben Haslam and still looks ahead of her mark following a 2 lb rise in the weights.
Southwell runner-up Different Drum is next on the list, with Star Of Markinch, Ebony Maw, and Annandale all worthy of respect, too.
