Each and every day of the racing year, we bring you a bumper NAPS Table to give you the inside scoop on all the plays you’ll need that day.
Don’t know what an NAPs Table is? We’ll tell you! It’s an independently run competition involving the cream of the British and Irish racing press whose positions in the table are based on their profits to Level Stakes. And just like all sports competitions worldwide, those doing best are towards the top of the table.
So, we decided to put that golden guide to the test and use it to steer you towards what could be a savvy Lucky 15 (4 horses, 15 bets) today. The four you’ll see below are the selections of some of the top-performing tipsters in the Table. Let’s get to the picks…
14:29 Ayr – Hello Judge (Racing Post)
Only five runners, but all of them have possibilities.
Chasing debutants Whistle Stop Tour (second choice) and White Rhino have the potential to take their form to a higher level over fences, while winning hurdler Donny Boy should not be long in getting off the mark in this sphere, and Special Rate had a fine strike-rate for his previous stable.
Marginal preference is for HELLO JUDGE, the only one with a recent run under his belt and who receives plenty of weight from the others.
14:58 Wetherby – Hang In There (Racing Post)
Bravemansgame and Conflated are the chief form contenders. Still, they lack a recently completed run (Conflated unseated at the first fence at Punchestown recently), and it may pay to take a chance elsewhere.
The 10yo HANG IN THERE has been a revelation in staying handicap chases this summer following a step up in trip, and he isn’t miles behind the principal players on RPRs. He could exploit a fitness edge. 2022 winner Bravemansgame returns having had wind surgery and is feared most.
16:50 Southwell – Bond Spirit (Jersey Evening Post)
The 3yo Where Is The Love may yet be capable of better, while triple course winner Bay Of Naples should go close if building on his latest effort around here.
Last-time-out winners Kojin and Lost In Time shouldn’t be far away either, but the vote goes to dual C&D winner BOND SPIRIT, who has dropped 1lb below his last winning mark. The booking of Paul Mulrennan catches the eye.
18:50 Southwell – Rousing Encore (NAP) (Racing Post)
Jubilee Walk could not justify favouritism at Royal Ascot, but he wasn’t beaten far, which is less demanding. He’s a strong contender, while a repeat of any of King’s Lynn’s three AW runs would see him bang there, and he’s second choice.
ROUSING ENCORE (nap) is tackling stronger opposition today than when creating a positive impression at Ayr three weeks ago. But the manner of that victory, allied with the high level of achievement in his youth, offers hope that he can deal with a small rise in the weights.
We Never Stop isn’t a model of consistency, but he could run better today.
